Hi! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Masters from Walden University and have been practicing for four years. I am currently a Doctoral Candidate at Walden University in the PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision program. I assist individuals, couples, and families in identifying and overcoming challenges that life may bring them. I integrate a culturally sensitive and holistic approach with each client.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we’ll start with brief introductions, then discuss the specific challenges that are bringing them into treatment. I will ask questions from all areas of life to gain a better understanding of how I can collaborate with you on your healing journey. This will help me tailr a plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

J'Briel's greatest strength as a provider is that she always tailor treatment based on the consumer's strengths and discovers attributes that promote autonomy holistically. I tailor evidence-based care to fit the consumer's cultural needs. Furthermore, J'Briel has a particular interest in addressing complex trauma, juvenile justice, reducing recidivism in minority communities, infertility, and women's issues, and recognizing the unique and sensitive nature of these concerns. She is dedicated to offering compassionate and effective services to individuals within this population. J'Briel's commitment to personal and professional growth is evident through her training in play therapy, where she is actively working toward certification as a play therapist. Additionally, she is an AutPlay-trained and certified therapist, demonstrating her proficiency in working with individuals who benefit from this therapeutic approach. J’Briel has been part of a research and scholarly speaking team of Walden University doctoral students who have been accepted to be part of conferences such as the 2024 Black Mental Health Symposium (BMHS) and the 2024 Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES) conferences. J’Briel is also a co-author of the chapter “Cultivating Compassion: Navigating the Depths of Cultural Self-Awareness in Counseling Training and Education” in the textbook Culturally Sustainable Counseling Curricula in Online Higher Education. J'Briel also is part of Adler Graduate School's faculty as an Adjunct Faculty teaching graduate-level counseling course.
