Hello! My name is Molly and I've been a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist since 2012. A little about myself, I'm originally from MN, I've resided in Southern CA for several decades now. I have a few mixed fur-babies and enjoy taking them on walks and to the park. I stay busy parenting a 14 year old teen, reading, taking hikes, and I'm working on planning some travel one of these days - something that got away from me as life got busy. I also enjoy live music and times at the beach.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During your first session, I am doing a lot of "information gathering" to get to know you and find out what goals you'd like to set and things you would like to change. I will gather some information about your current support system, substance use if any, family of origin, medical issues and medication, any past treatment you may have had and what worked and did not not work at that time. Feel free to ask me anything you'd like as well!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a variety of ages from adolescent, adult to older adult, I've had success using a variety of modalities to make progress and provide relief within a few sessions with anxiety, depression, anger, and eating disorder to name a few. I've found that often in therapy, a client can think they are signing up to see a Therapist for one issue and as we talk - they can find that other issues may be playing a role that can also be addressed. I've been told I'm really easy to talk to, can summarize what I'm hearing your goals are and we can then target how to reach those goals. Additionally, I believe in looking at your strengths and keeping in mind the things that are going WELL, not just things that are not going well. I'm flexible utilizing different interventions and skills depending on the individual, i.e. some clients like to journal and do well using one and others prefer to not write. Some of my clients find relief using apps for guided meditation for relaxation - others may not find it helpful. We won't know until we give things a try!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With CBT, you will see how your thoughts and emotions effect your behaviors. CBT has been demonstrated to have more positive outcomes for a range of problems including anxiety disorders, depression, drugs and alcohol, and eating disorders, to name a few. CBT has been consider the Gold Standard as a treatment modality to significantly improve quality of life by looking at our thoughts, using problem-solving skills, developing confidence in situations, and gaining an awareness of mind/body connection.

Grief Therapy

Those clients who are currently experiencing grief or have not processed past losses, you can greatly benefit from education on grief and the processing of emotional and physical pain experienced from bereavement.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I am a firm believer in building a positive relationship with no judgment and to be supportive in your therapy goals. I look at meeting you at a pace that is comfortable for you and not over-whelming. We will work toward your goals while making sure you feel safe, supported, and able to express your true feelings with no judgment.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

For clients wanting to be future-focused and goal-oriented, SFBT is a short-term goal-focused evidence based therapeutic approach, we can work on goals by building on your strengths and looking at alternative solutions to the problem, thereby creating change by constructing solutions rather than having the focus on problems. This modality creates a sense of hope friendly, positive emotion eliciting and future-oriented platform for achieving and sustaining desired behavioral change.

Supportive

With all treatment modalities, I will bring in ways to cultivate your personal well-being and increase self-esteem and self-reliance. I'm here to support you on your journey & goals and get you to a place of feeling your very best.
