Hello! My name is Molly and I've been a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist since 2012. A little about myself, I'm originally from MN, I've resided in Southern CA for several decades now. I have a few mixed fur-babies and enjoy taking them on walks and to the park. I stay busy parenting a 14 year old teen, reading, taking hikes, and I'm working on planning some travel one of these days - something that got away from me as life got busy. I also enjoy live music and times at the beach.
During your first session, I am doing a lot of "information gathering" to get to know you and find out what goals you'd like to set and things you would like to change. I will gather some information about your current support system, substance use if any, family of origin, medical issues and medication, any past treatment you may have had and what worked and did not not work at that time. Feel free to ask me anything you'd like as well!
Having worked with a variety of ages from adolescent, adult to older adult, I've had success using a variety of modalities to make progress and provide relief within a few sessions with anxiety, depression, anger, and eating disorder to name a few. I've found that often in therapy, a client can think they are signing up to see a Therapist for one issue and as we talk - they can find that other issues may be playing a role that can also be addressed. I've been told I'm really easy to talk to, can summarize what I'm hearing your goals are and we can then target how to reach those goals. Additionally, I believe in looking at your strengths and keeping in mind the things that are going WELL, not just things that are not going well. I'm flexible utilizing different interventions and skills depending on the individual, i.e. some clients like to journal and do well using one and others prefer to not write. Some of my clients find relief using apps for guided meditation for relaxation - others may not find it helpful. We won't know until we give things a try!
