I'm so glad you're here! I'm Kori and I provide psychotherapy for young adult women. My approach is grounded in the belief that the therapeutic relationship is the most important indicator of success in therapy. I strive to provide a warm and welcoming environment for my clients where feelings of safety & connection are at the forefront of our collaborative partnership.
In our first session together, we will get to know each other and then discuss the specifics of what you're looking to accomplish in therapy. We will then come up with a plan together to guide your treatment.
As a therapist, I use my own life experience combined with evidence-based and person-centered practice to inform the care I provide to my clients. I am extremely flexible and understanding and value trust and honesty with my clients.
I am passionate about working with young women (ages 18-25) who are dealing with anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
Kori Abarzua offers therapy covered by Husky Health and Medicaid in Connecticut.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which is a form of psychotherapy that helps individuals process distressing thoughts, memories, and feelings. It is commonly used with traumatic events and is also effective in treating anxiety and depression. During a session using EMDR, we will access memories of a negative event while using eye movements and guided instructions. The goal is to reprocess the memory, which can help repair the mental injury and make the feelings more manageable.
