First session

The first session consist of four key components. #1. We will review expectations and commitment to your therapy journey. This will be a chance for you to share your preference for me as your clinician. You are in the driver's seat. #2 We will discuss your reasoning for seeking therapy and your desired outcome. #3 You will be asked questions pertaining to your childhood experiences. If I can see the world through your eyes, I can better support you. Lastly #4, we will spend the last few minutes discussing my overall insight from what you have shared thus far (with your permission to share my feedback, of course.) This comes based off a collection of note taking and an understanding of human behavior.

Strengths

I am a Christian, African American wife and mother who operates a private practice. I'm an advocate of prayer, purpose and self-discovery. I personally understand loss, fearing failure and knowing what it feels like when the odds are against you.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Effective change begins with understanding the way we think and why. This comes from exploring our patterns of behavior by identifying where the behaviors began. Once we can tap into our trauma responses or conditioned way of thinking, we can explore options that lead to behaviors that fit into our goals.

Psychoanalytic

Understanding the impact of early childhood development and the concept of inner child work.
