"Many of our mental health challenges stem from the survival strategies we developed in childhood to cope with pain, trauma, or unmet needs. These patterns of thinking and behaving, which were once essential, may now create barriers to healthy peer and professional relationships. I believe that creating space to explore your story with compassion is not only healing, but transformative. Together, we can gently unpack the past and begin to rewrite your future.
Our first session is a chance for us to begin getting to know each other. We’ll gently walk through an intake assessment to better understand your history, needs, and goals. I know this process can feel vulnerable or even uncomfortable at times, which is why I approach it with compassion, curiosity, and zero judgment. I also recognize that therapy is a two-way relationship—you’re assessing me just as much as I’m learning about you. I encourage new clients to give it at least three sessions before deciding if we’re the right fit. Healing takes time, and so does building trust.
My work isn’t just a profession, it’s a calling rooted in empathy, insight, and lived experience. My ability to identify survival strategies as a once necessary function, creates a safe environment for healing. My goal is to create an atmosphere of safety and tenderness, whereby feelings of shame begin to dissolve and self-discovery can safely begin.
It takes courage, support, and safety to look inward and gently unlearn coping strategies that no longer serve us. These behaviors—like people-pleasing, emotional shutdown, chronic overachievement, or isolation—often began as brilliant ways we adapted to pain, trauma, or unmet needs in childhood. Choosing healing opens the door to more fulfilling relationships, a kinder inner voice, and a life that feels aligned with who you truly are. If you're ready to explore that path, I would be honored to walk it with you.
Teens and Adults often seek therapy because they are in pain and are exhhibiting some type of behavior such as depression, isolation or suicidal thoughts. While biological and developmental factors play a role, these symptoms are usually the result of someone in pain due to a wounding that occurred within a significant relationship such as family, friend or community. As your therapist, you will be supported with processing your emotions, mourning the loss and preparing a gift of forgiveness for those who hurt you.
Schema Therapy offers teens and adults a way to understand the thought patterns that influence how one sees themselves and relate to others. In our sessions, I provide a safe and supportive space where one can explore feelings of abandonment, being misunderstood, or being not enough. Together, we’ll work to build healthier beliefs and coping strategies for improved relationships with oneself and others.
