New to Grow
Hello! I’m Emma, a Licensed Independent Social Worker who works with teens, young adults, and adults. My approach is warm, honest, and collaborative. I am direct and not afraid to gently challenge unhelpful or unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, because real growth often comes from looking at things differently. I balance this with compassion and humor, using laughter as a way to build connection and make tough conversations more manageable. I aim to create a safe, affirming space where clients feel supported in exploring their emotions, building skills, and working toward goals that matter in daily life. My work is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and gender-affirming. I strive to meet clients where they are while helping them move toward where they want to be.
Our first session will focus on getting to know each other and setting goals that match your mental health needs. Expect to answer questions and discuss your mental health and social history.
I believe successful therapy is built on connection and honesty. I enjoy getting to know my clients for who they really are without judgement. I pride myself on being open minded, compassionate, and easy going.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been a primary modality in my practice for several years. Following a CBT framework, we will work together to understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In my work, CBT is practical and collaborative—we look at real-life situations you are facing and identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I believe effective therapy begins with feeling understood and respected. I practice culturally sensitive therapy by acknowledging the ways culture, identity, family systems, and life experiences shape how clients view themselves and their challenges. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, and I tailor evidence-based approaches to align with each client’s values, strengths, and goals.
Gender-affirming therapy
I offer gender-affirming therapy for individuals seeking a space where their identity is respected and affirmed. I understand the unique challenges that transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse individuals may face, including stigma, discrimination, and identity-related stress. My goal is to help clients feel safe, empowered, and supported as they explore their experiences and work toward emotional well-being.
Positive Psychology
My approach is rooted in positive psychology, with an emphasis on helping clients recognize their strengths and build on what is already working. I support clients in developing resilience, increasing emotional insight, and fostering a greater sense of purpose and self-efficacy alongside traditional therapeutic goals.
Trauma Informed Care
My work is grounded in trauma-informed care, with an emphasis on safety, trust, and collaboration. I understand that past experiences can shape how clients view themselves and the world, and I strive to create a space where clients feel respected, empowered, and in control of their therapeutic process.
