You've been managing everything ... the job, the relationships, the mental load , and somewhere along the way, your own mental health got pushed to the bottom of the list. That's where I come in. I'm Bianca Ferguson, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and founder of The Mind Spa. I specialize in psychiatric medication management for adults navigating anxiety, depression, *ADHD (non-stimulant options only), mood instability, life stress, and identity-related concerns. I don't do rushed, impersonal med checks. I do thorough evaluations, real conversations, and treatment plans built around your life, not a one-size-fits-all prescription pad. My approach is rooted in evidence-based prescribing, psychoeducation, and genuine partnership. I take the time to explain the why behind every recommendation so you feel confident, not confused. I provide LGBTQ+ affirming care, and I believe that feeling heard is the first step to feeling better. If you've been dismissed by a previous provider, told to "just try this," or left an appointment with more questions than answers , this is a different experience.

First session

The first session is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation — and it's the most important one. I'll ask about your history, your current symptoms, what you've tried before, and what your goals are. We'll talk about whether medication makes sense, what the options look like, and what to realistically expect — including timelines, side effects, and how we'll know if something is working. You'll leave with a clear, personalized treatment plan and a provider who actually explained it to you. No surprises. No pressure. Just a solid starting point.

Strengths

Here's what my clients say sets me apart: I actually listen, and I actually explain. I combine clinical expertise with warmth and straight talk. I don't use jargon without breaking it down, and I don't recommend a medication without telling you exactly why , and what the alternatives are. I'm especially skilled at working with patients who have felt dismissed, over-medicated, or under-heard by previous providers. Whether we're starting something new, adjusting a dose, or rethinking your entire regimen, I make sure you understand the plan and feel good about it. Medication management should feel collaborative, not transactional.

Ideal clients

I work best with adults who want a thoughtful, no-nonsense approach to psychiatric care. You might be: Struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or mood swings that are affecting your work, relationships, or daily life. Considering medication for the first time and feeling nervous about what to expect Already on medication but unsure it's working, or dealing with side effects no one warned you about. Looking for a provider who explains things clearly and treats you like a whole person, not just a diagnosis. An LGBTQ+ individual seeking affirming, respectful psychiatric care. A professional, caregiver, or parent who keeps showing up for everyone else but hasn't had someone show up for them. I especially value working with people navigating life transitions, workplace stress, caregiver burnout, and the unique mental health challenges that come with balancing too much at once. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to optimize your current regimen, my approach is educational, supportive, and centered on your goals. If any of that resonates, we're probably a good fit.

Treatment methods

Psychoeducation

I use psychoeducation to help clients better understand their diagnosis, symptoms, treatment options, and how mental health can be affected by stress, sleep, lifestyle, relationships, and medication. My goal is to make information clear and practical so clients feel informed, empowered, and involved in their care. I provide education in a supportive way and collaborate with clients to create treatment plans that feel realistic and manageable.

I love that Bianca listens to my concerns and is helping me switch medications after having prior doctors not listen to me. I haven't worked with her very long, but I am very happy so far! I would recommend her to anyone needing a mental health doctor.
