Hello, and welcome. My name is Katherine Wentworth, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Master Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) with more than 10 years of experience helping individuals navigate life's challenges and achieve meaningful, lasting change. Throughout my career, I have worked with adults, older adults, children and families facing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use disorders, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, stress management, and life transitions. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each client's unique needs, strengths, and goals. I am trained in a variety of evidence-based clinical interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other trauma-informed therapeutic approaches. These modalities allow me to support clients in processing difficult experiences, developing healthy coping skills, and building resilience. I believe that healing occurs within a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship. My goal is to empower clients to gain insight, overcome obstacles, and create healthier, more fulfilling lives. Seeking help is a courageous first step, and I am honored to walk alongside my clients on their journey toward healing, growth, and recovery.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Beginning therapy can feel both hopeful and uncertain. My goal is to provide a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your experiences at your own pace. During our first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, emotional well-being, and any previous counseling or treatment experiences. This information helps me gain a better understanding of your unique circumstances and identify the most effective approach to support your goals. We will also review important information regarding confidentiality, informed consent, and answer any questions you may have about the counseling process. The first session is an opportunity for us to begin building a strong therapeutic relationship and collaboratively identify goals for treatment. You do not need to have all the answers or know exactly where to begin. We will work together to explore your concerns, identify strengths, and develop a personalized plan that supports your growth and healing. Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use concerns, life transitions, relationship challenges, or personal growth, my commitment is to provide a safe space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward wellness and lasting change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring a combination of professional expertise, compassion, and a genuine commitment to helping clients achieve meaningful and lasting change. With more than 10 years of experience as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Certified Addiction Professional (CAP), I have had the privilege of supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds through a wide range of challenges. Some of the strengths I bring to our work together include: Compassion and Empathy I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. Extensive Clinical Experience My experience working with mental health, substance use disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions allows me to provide informed and effective care tailored to each client's needs. Evidence-Based Practices I am trained in several evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and trauma-informed interventions. These approaches help clients develop practical skills, process difficult experiences, and achieve their therapeutic goals. Strengths-Based Perspective I believe every individual possesses unique strengths and resilience. Together, we identify and build upon those strengths to foster healing, growth, and self-confidence. Collaborative Approach Therapy is a partnership. I work alongside my clients to develop personalized treatment goals and strategies that align with their values, needs, and aspirations. Cultural Sensitivity and Respect I value each person's unique experiences, beliefs, and identity, and I strive to provide care that is inclusive, respectful, and responsive to individual differences. Authenticity and Commitment I am dedicated to building a trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel comfortable being themselves and exploring difficult topics at their own pace. My goal is to help clients gain insight, develop effective coping skills, overcome obstacles, and create healthier, more fulfilling lives. I consider it an honor to walk alongside individuals as they pursue healing, recovery, and personal growth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals who are ready to invest in their personal growth, healing, and overall well-being. While clients may come to therapy at different stages of readiness, my ideal client is someone who is open to self-exploration, willing to engage in the therapeutic process, and motivated to make meaningful changes in their life. Many of the clients I work with are struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use concerns, relationship challenges, life transitions, stress, burnout, grief and loss, or difficulties managing emotions. They may feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about how to move forward, yet they have a desire to better understand themselves and create positive change. As a Certified Addiction Professional, I also enjoy supporting individuals affected by substance use disorders, whether they are seeking recovery, maintaining sobriety, or working through the impact addiction has had on their lives and relationships. My clients often include professionals, caregivers, parents, and helping professionals who spend much of their time caring for others and are ready to prioritize their own mental and emotional health. Together, we work to identify strengths, develop effective coping strategies, improve self-awareness, and create a path toward greater balance, fulfillment, and wellness.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the evidence-based approaches I use to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT is based on the idea that the way we interpret situations can significantly influence how we feel and respond to life's challenges. In my practice, I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful or distorted thinking patterns that may contribute to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, relationship difficulties, and other emotional concerns. Together, we explore how these thoughts impact emotions and behaviors and work to develop healthier, more balanced ways of thinking. CBT is a collaborative and goal-oriented approach. During sessions, clients learn practical skills to challenge negative self-talk, improve problem-solving abilities, manage difficult emotions, and develop healthier coping strategies.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

CPT focuses on understanding how traumatic experiences can affect the way we think about ourselves, others, and the world, and how these beliefs may contribute to ongoing emotional distress. During treatment, we work together to identify “stuck points”—thoughts or beliefs that may be interfering with recovery—and use evidence-based strategies to challenge and modify them. As clients develop healthier ways of understanding their experiences, they often experience a reduction in trauma-related symptoms and an improvement in overall functioning.

Christian Counseling

Christian Counseling is an approach that integrates faith-based principles with evidence-based clinical practices to support emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. For clients who desire to incorporate their Christian faith into the therapeutic process, I provide a safe and supportive environment where faith can be explored as a source of strength, healing, and personal growth. In my practice, I integrate Christian values and biblical principles with established therapeutic approaches. This allows clients to address emotional and psychological challenges while also exploring the role their faith plays in their healing journey.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences, distressing memories, and negative beliefs that may be contributing to current emotional difficulties. EMDR is based on the understanding that unprocessed experiences can become "stuck" in the brain, causing ongoing symptoms such as anxiety, depression, trauma responses, low self-esteem, and emotional distress.
