About me

I am Dr. Sanjuanita De Luna, and I have 35 years of experience in helping people in varied capacities and roles. As a therapist with a medical social work background, I take a holistic approach to emotional well-being, emphasizing the connection between mind and body. I believe meaningful change is possible, and I strive to help people reach their potential, based on their individual strengths. I am always mindful of maintaining a collaborative experience.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My goal is to provide a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered as we work together toward greater emotional wellness, healthier relationships, and lasting change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My therapeutic approach and professional framework is tailored to the assessment of the client. While some clients may welcome a softer, graded approach to wellness, other individuals may have expectations of a more direct, problem-solving strategy. My strength relies on the use of the therapeutic alliance as a vehicle to client well being and the use of a therapeutic modality is decided on the presenting concern, as well as client assessment.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I serve people of all ages who are willing to share their story in the safety of a therapeutic space. I specialize in the treatment of family conflict, relationship concerns, grief experiences, histories of trauma, and adjustment to life challenges. I believe the clients for whom I can be most helpful are those who are motivated to engage in positive change and feel comfortable seeing me as their partner in health.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

It helps the client understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, and identify the negative patterns that do not serve them. It guides the development of healthier ways of thinking.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This approach helps the client manage uncomfortable thoughts and emotions. While acknowledging their existence, the strive is to move forward by developing skills in their management, while remaining focused on those aspects that are important in their lives.

EMDR

This approach can help the brain process difficulty memories that might be affecting a person in the present. Once those memories are processed through a bilateral; stimulation technique, a reduction in negative symptoms may be experienced.

Grief Therapy

The Dual Process Grief therapy gives you the space to go through the loss of a loved one without rigid rules, understanding that in life, the happy can go alongside with the sad.
