Hi, I’m Sandy, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes that everyone deserves a safe, supportive space to feel heard, understood, and valued. I recognize that reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re accustomed to managing life’s challenges on your own. My goal is to meet you where you are, without judgment, while helping you discover the strength and resilience you already possess. My experience includes working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, emotional distress, and major life transitions. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with people from diverse backgrounds who have faced difficult circumstances, unexpected changes, and moments of uncertainty. These experiences have reinforced my belief that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process.

Whatever brings you to therapy, you deserve to feel heard, understood, and supported. Together, we’ll explore your experiences, discover your strengths, and work toward meaningful change at your own pace.

My therapeutic style is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and straightforward. I believe meaningful progress happens when you feel comfortable being yourself, expressing your emotions, and exploring difficult experiences at your own pace. While I provide a supportive environment, I also believe in gently challenging unhelpful patterns, encouraging accountability, and helping you develop practical tools that support lasting change. I approach therapy as a partnership. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you gain clarity, strengthen your coping skills, establish healthy boundaries, and make decisions that align with your values and personal goals. I also understand that life experiences can shape how we see ourselves and the world around us. I bring both professional knowledge and genuine human understanding into our sessions. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, struggling with relationships, processing painful experiences, or simply trying to rediscover yourself, you don’t have to navigate everything alone. I believe in progress, not perfection. Together, we can work toward greater emotional balance, self-awareness, confidence, and a more fulfilling life.

First session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation of trust. I understand that sharing personal experiences with someone new can feel uncomfortable, so my priority is creating a welcoming, respectful, and judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable being yourself. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, explore your current concerns, review relevant personal history, and begin identifying what you hope to accomplish. I’ll also explain what you can expect from our work together and answer any questions you may have. I believe therapy should be collaborative, so your voice, experiences, and preferences will guide our approach. You won’t be expected to share everything at once or have all the answers. My hope is that you leave our first session feeling heard, respected, supported, and reassured that you have taken a meaningful step toward your emotional well-being. Together, we’ll begin identifying a direction that reflects your individual needs and goals.

Strengths

I bring empathy, honesty, lived experience, and practical insight. As someone who is hard of hearing with a speech difference, I understand resilience and self-advocacy. I listen without judgment, ask thoughtful questions, and gently challenge you when growth requires it.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who may be feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges but is ready to take steps toward understanding themselves and creating meaningful change. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, emotional exhaustion, or major life transitions. Perhaps you’ve spent years prioritizing everyone else’s needs while neglecting your own, or you’re finding it difficult to navigate circumstances that feel beyond your control. I specialize in working with adults and older adults from diverse backgrounds, including Veterans and individuals with disabilities, who are navigating emotional distress, mental health challenges, and significant life transitions. Throughout my clinical experience, I’ve supported individuals facing complex circumstances while helping them recognize their strengths, develop healthier coping strategies, and regain a sense of control over their lives. You don’t have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. You may not even know exactly what you need, and that’s okay. What matters most is a willingness to explore your experiences, consider new perspectives, and gradually work toward your goals. Whether you’re seeking healthier relationships, improved emotional well-being, stronger boundaries, increased confidence, or simply a greater sense of peace, my goal is to help you move forward at a pace that feels comfortable and meaningful to you. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout their journey toward healing and personal growth.

Treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My primary approach is Person-Centered/Humanistic Therapy, grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I provide a compassionate, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Supportive Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to meet your individual needs. Together, we explore how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence your experiences, identify unhelpful patterns, and develop healthier coping strategies. I use thoughtful questions to encourage self-reflection, explore motivation for change, and help you recognize your strengths. While I offer empathy, validation, and encouragement, I also believe in gently challenging perspectives that may be limiting your growth. Our work focuses on building self-awareness, strengthening confidence, establishing healthy boundaries, and developing practical solutions to life’s challenges. My goal is to help you feel supported while empowering you to make meaningful changes at your own pace. I believe in progress, not perfection, and that lasting change begins with understanding yourself and recognizing your ability to move forward.
