New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working in the field of addiction, and dual diagnosis disorders for over 20 years. I have worked with clients involved in the courts, juveniles, foster care, LGBTQ, developmentally challenged as well as individual on probation, parole and supervised release. My approach is client centered and focused on assisting you with obtaining realistic goals by using evidence-based practices. I understand the struggles and discomfort that change can bring about. I also understand how internal conflicts can interfere with daily life. Seeking help is the first step towards a promise of an improved quality of life.
Together we will identify and prioritize challenges, barriers, and goals. We will discuss where you want your life to be in specific time frames. Then we will identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the initial session with a better understanding of what you are facing and some options to get started. There will also be an opportunity for suggestions concerning our work together during each session, including keeping each other accountable.
My approach is warm, inviting, and nonjudgemental. My listening skills have resulted in goal attainment for many.
My goal is to work collaboratively with you in resolving addiction issues and discovering a path towards recovery, reducing and managing anxiety, changing thinking patterns that lead to anger, depression, and anxiety. In doing so, you will manage anger in a healthy way, reduce stress related to anxiety, break the addiction cycle, and improve mood. In implementing CBT and MI strategies in a safe environment, it fosters an environment in which healing becomes a reality.

I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In working with various populations, I've been using CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) for over 20 years. It has helped hundreds of clients suffering from addiction, anxiety, and depression identify and reconsider unhealthy thoughts. We'll use CBT to learn about the correlation between your thoughts, feeling and behavior. In learning about this correlation, we will begin working towards changing your thought patterns, which will lead to a less stressful and healthier lifestyle.
Motivational Interviewing
In my work experience with working with individuals involved with the courts, I found that some individuals want change but simply do not know how. Others lack confidence in their ability to change behaviors. In using Motivational Interviewing (MI) for over 15 years I've helped many boost their confidence to change and increase motivation. We'll use MI to explore personal reasons to change, resolve ambivalence, overcome avoidance, and build motivation collaboratively in a safe environment whether you are facing addiction, anxiety, or depression.
