Hello, I am Divya Gupta-Torres. As a clinician, I have worked in a variety of settings including, inpatient psychiatric units as well as a wide range of outpatient mental health services that provided individual, family, couples, and group counseling using a wide range of modalities. In addition, I have an extensive amount of experience working with individuals and families facing the unique challenges of substance abuse. Some of the settings in which I have addressed these challenges are inpatient substance abuse treatment crisis intervention services Intensive Outpatient Programs and Methadone clinics. I used a wide range of treatment modalities in these settings. My diverse cultural background allows me to understand and guide my clients with empathy, active listening, patience, and validation. Through this collaborative process, my clients develop the strength, hope and perseverance to take the small steps to create inner peace and live the life they strive to live.
If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, behavioral issues, or trauma I can help you identify triggers and tools to manage these challenges. I do this by creating a safe, judgment-free environment in which my clients can explore the various areas of their past and present that need healing. Together we will develop a plan to help you reach your goals and be the best possible you.
My therapeutic technique is based on a therapeutic relationship where I guide my clients with empathy, active listening, patience and validation in developing the courage to take the small steps in reaching their optimal life. I guide while making sure that my clients lead this process as they are the experts on them. I use a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as mindfulness, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Therapy meditation and yoga to provide individualized treatment to my clients.
Each of us is presented with challenges in our day-to-day lives, and while our challenges may be unique, there are many common themes. Our changed cultural environment has ushered in new and unfamiliar terrain. The environment is different and for many, there has not been a return to “normal.” This can produce a wide range of mental health symptoms, and some of us are seeking reassurance. I provide a space that allows you to find hope strength, compassion and empowerment. I see a wide range of clients from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. I know from my own experiences that individuals who are part of minority groups can often face cultural challenges surrounding the stigma of mental health treatment. I am passionate about providing a judgment-free space for members of all ethnic and socioeconomic groups to explore and get support in facing the unique challenges presented to them.
