New to Grow
Hello, and welcome! I’m Dr. Laura Tsotsis, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. With over 13 years of experience, I bring a strong foundation in evidence-based care to my work. My approach is rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy, while also integrating positive psychology, strength-based approaches, and interpersonal techniques. I have worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, stress, and life transitions. My goal is to create a supportive space where clients feel empowered to make meaningful, lasting changes and build a fulfilling life.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, as well as other important areas of your life. We’ll explore both the challenges you’re facing and the strengths you bring. I’ll also walk you through the therapy process and answer any questions you may have. By the end of the session, we’ll begin to identify goals for our work together and outline a path forward, so you can leave feeling informed, supported, and confident in the process ahead.
Clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and easy to talk to, which helps create a space where they feel comfortable sharing openly. I strive to be both a supportive presence and an active guide in the therapeutic process - offering encouragement while also helping clients take meaningful steps toward change. My goal is to foster independence, self-confidence, and a strong sense of empowerment that extends beyond our work together.
I find it especially meaningful to work with individuals who are open to self-exploration and interested in creating meaningful change, even if they’re unsure where to begin. Many are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, or relationship concerns, and are ready to engage in a supportive, collaborative therapeutic process. Together, we focus on building insight, resilience, and practical skills that foster a greater sense of balance, meaning, and well-being.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to distress and work to develop more balanced, helpful ways of thinking and responding. My approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to each individual, with a focus on building skills that clients can use in their everyday lives to feel more confident and in control.
Integrative
Generally, clients can expect an Integrative approach to therapy, meaning I draw from a range of evidence-based techniques to best meet each client’s unique needs. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor our work together by combining strategies from different therapeutic models. This allows us to address concerns in a flexible, personalized way that supports meaningful and lasting change.
Positive Psychology
I incorporate Positive Psychology into my practice by helping clients identify and build on their existing strengths, values, and sources of meaning. In addition to working through challenges, we focus on what is going well and how to cultivate more of it—such as resilience, gratitude, and a sense of purpose. My approach is supportive and forward-focused, helping clients build a more balanced, fulfilling life.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution Focused Therapy to help clients identify clear, meaningful goals and build on the strengths and resources they already have. Rather than focusing heavily on problems, we work together to highlight what’s working and explore small, achievable steps toward change. By using an approach that is practical and encouraging, clients create progress in ways that feel manageable and empowering.
Interpersonal
Interpersonal Therapy helps clients explore how their relationships and life transitions impact their emotional well-being. Collaboratively, we will pinpoint patterns in communication, connection, and support, and work to strengthen relationships or navigate changes more effectively. With a client-centered and supportive approach, the focus is on helping clients feel more understood, connected, and confident in their interactions with others.
