(she/her)
Dr. Madison Lim (or just Madison for short) is a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a doctoral degree in advanced practice nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She sees clients located in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC virtually. Although she is new to Grow Therapy, she has many years of adult and pediatric/adolescent (age 6+) mental health experience in both hospital (including military) and outpatient settings. She provides assessment and medication management for a wide range of conditions such as ADHD (area of specialty, testing available), depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar and other mood disorders, PTSD, schizophrenia, perinatal/post partum issues, autism related issues, binge eating disorder, gender dysphoria, ODD, and others. She also uses more natural and holistic approach where necessary. She is especially passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ community and providing gender affirming care. She welcomes immigrants and minority populations, as well as veterans and their families. She enjoys working with K-12 and college students who are struggling due to ADHD issues.
Come as you are, dress comfortably, and bring a snack or a comfort plushie if you'd like. Bring your pet next to you if you want as Dr. Madison loves to see clients' pets (she is a big proponent of emotional support animals)! If you are taking medications/supplements, please bring a list of names and doses (or show medication bottles at appointment) to facilitate the process so that there's more time to talk. During the first meeting, she'd like to know all about you, your current struggles or concerns, your preferred approach and thoughts on how you could work together as a team. She will identify areas of needs and share observations and assessment with you. She will make sure to explain and answer all your questions so that you are well informed. With your additional insight, a treatment plan will be formed together to tackle life's challenges and bring improvements in your life as a team!
Dr. Madison strives to fully get to know each client's life story isntead of just focusing on symptoms and diagnosis. She is open-minded, non-judgemental, and enjoy learning new things from clients. Her clients have expressed that she is very approachable and that they feel truly "heard" during sessions.
If you are looking for a warm and casual environment where you feel like you are talking to a trusted friend rather than a distant clinician, then Dr. Madison is the perfect person for you! She is open-minded and welcomes clients of all paths and identities. She also does great with clients who consider themselves "socially awkard" (as someone who is surrounded by engineers and loves to go to gaming and anime conventions, she understands!). Those with ADHD symptoms also tend to say they feel "understood" when talking with her as she is knowledgeable and passionate in this field. She also makes sure to explain things in a simple way, spend ample time with each client to make sure they are fully informed, and come up with treatment plans together with clients. Most insurance accepted! For clients paying out-of-pocket, initial assessment (the first meeting) is $200 and $150 for follow up appointments.
