In our first session together, we'll start with getting to know one another. I like to take time to gain insight into your reasons for seeking therapy. We will complete a comprehensive assessment and together create a therapy plan that is designed to help you accomplish your goals for therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My treatment methods

Somatic

Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to psychotherapy that focuses on the connection between the mind and body, especially in processing and releasing trauma. It is based on the idea that trauma, stress, and unresolved emotions can become "stuck" in the body, leading to physical and emotional symptoms. Through techniques like breathwork, grounding, movement, and mindfulness, somatic therapy helps clients become aware of bodily sensations and work through distress stored in the body. By safely releasing tension and re-establishing a sense of physical and emotional balance, somatic therapy can help alleviate symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Polyvagal Therapy

Polyvagal-based therapy helps clients learn to recognize and shift the nervous system's three main states. Through techniques that promote safety and connection, such as breathwork, grounding, mindful awareness, and social engagement exercises. It’s especially useful for trauma and stress-related disorders, as it supports clients in understanding their body’s responses and finding ways to return to a state of calm and safety.

Compassion Focused

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals develop self-compassion and reduce self-criticism and shame. Rooted in evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and mindfulness, CFT focuses on cultivating a compassionate inner voice and strengthening one's ability to respond kindly to personal suffering. Techniques in CFT often include guided imagery, mindfulness, and exercises aimed at building self-compassion, empathy, and self-acceptance. It is particularly helpful for individuals with high levels of self-criticism, shame, or trauma, as it fosters a supportive mindset that can alleviate anxiety, depression, and feelings of inadequacy.

Integrative

An integrative approach to therapy combines methods and techniques from multiple therapeutic models to best suit a client's unique needs, personality, and treatment goals. Rather than adhering to a single approach, integrative therapy draws from a range of modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and humanistic approaches. This flexibility allows me to adapt my clinical methods, whether focusing on thoughts, emotions, behaviors, or the body, to provide holistic care. The integrative approach emphasizes the client’s individual experience and seeks to address psychological, emotional, and, sometimes, physical factors to promote lasting change and well-being.
