(she/her)
Hi, I'm Molly! I’m a licensed Marriage and Family therapist in California. My style is nonjudgmental, warm yet direct, and collaborative. I help adults explore who they are, their values, and experiences to create balance and wellness in their lives. I work largely from a trauma-informed, emotion-focused, attachment frame, and will explore with you how the events and relationships in your life shape who you are and how you interact with the world around you. I will support you in learning & using tools to cope with life's stressors while diving deep to understand what brings you to therapy.
You are the expert of your own life, and my job is to support you in accessing your strengths and inner wisdom. In our first session, we will explore goals that feels aligned with your needs, strengths, and past & present life circumstances. As we move forward, you can expect to explore the challenges you are currently experiencing, and learn skills to decrease negative, anxious, and self-defeating inner dialogue, become more present and flexible, and connect to yourself and those around you. I will always bring honesty, compassion, and empowerment to our work together. This work can be tough, but so rewarding. I'm here with you every step of the way!
As your therapist, I bring with me a sense of humility, connection, and deep care to the work. I have full trust in my clients' ability to grow, adapt, and heal as we work together. I will join you where you are, and guide you with intention, care, and connectedness as you evolve into the healthiest and happiest version of yourself. I feel strongly that healing occurs in relationships, and my hope is that our therapeutic relationship will act as a vessel of change and growth. Therapy can be a fun and creative journey and I am honored to join you on it.
I work with folks seeking to explore their experience, whether you’re hoping to heal from childhood trauma, struggling to take care of yourself in the way you deserve, hoping to be more connected to the people around you, or looking for ways to soothe anxious, distressing, or depressive thoughts and feelings. I love to work with my clients on exploring their relationships with themselves and others as well as how patterns of behavior may have served us at one time in your life, but no longer do.
My work as a therapist is informed by attachment theory - I believe the attachments/relationships we experience with others in our early lives shape the way we understand and interact with the world around us. I feel strongly that while hurt can occur within relationships, so can healing.
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support you in creating positive shifts in your life by finding a balance between acceptance & change, and acquiring new skills and learning through novel and experiential ways.
Trained in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), I use this approach to guide you toward emotional awareness around your relational patterns and support you in strengthening your relationships.
Trauma is not necessarily about what happened to you, but how it affected you. I work largely from a trauma-informed lens, creating space for all of your parts and all of your experiences, supporting you in processing your pain and accessing your inner strength and wisdom. I bring years of experience as a social worker to my practice and am deeply familiar with privilege, my position as a white therapist, and the oppressive nature of systems in our society.
