Hello, I serve as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Washington D.C. I earned my Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Walden University in Minnesota and have been in practice for five years. In my role, I carry out a range of responsibilities, such as performing mental health evaluations, creating and executing treatment strategies, prescribing and overseeing psychiatric medications, offering therapy and counseling, and providing support and education to families of patients. My work aids individuals of all ages in improving their well-being, gaining self-confidence, understanding themselves, and realizing their potential.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The client’s first visit with me as a provider is critical because it has the potential to shape attitudes and behaviors that foster and strengthen my relationship with the client. The first few minutes of an initial patient-provider encounter are important for establishing trust and rapport. I will make sure such relationships are characterized by trust and rapport that would contribute to better care experiences, alleviate anxiety and distress, and enhance the client's involvement in decision-making about their care.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

For 5 years, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, helping mentally challenged clients. I developed tools to assist my clients with feeling cared about by a provider, sensing clear accountability from the health system regarding who is responsible for overseeing their care, who to contact when they need help, and feeling prepared and capable of caring for themselves.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with teenagers, adults, and older adults assisting them to set on how to improve their lives. This helps them to remain accountable for the things they would like to achieve. Setting goals can help clients with depression to overcome this illness and help with rehabilitation. Setting goals therefore acts as a road map for clients who want to overcome challenges and be successful in life.

My treatment methods

Multicultural

AS a good provider, I always empathize with my clients, continually check the accuracy of their understanding of clients’ circumstances and experiences, and work with patience and respect to forge relationships with clients in a way that reflects a call to a just society. As a provider that promotes multicultural forms of treatment/therapy, I always multi-task, by engaging in the traditional forms of assessment and relationship building inherent in all psychotherapy treatment; and, on the other hand, modeling openness about racial, cultural, and other differences, relevant to work in treatment.
