LMHC, 16 years of experience
I have been a therapist for over 16 years in a number of different settings. I have developed a passion for joining with clients to see their whole picture, to understand the why behind who they are, to develop compassion for the different parts of yourself and to tap into the innate abilities, insights and skills you have to help you grow. I want to help you start to live a more examined life, one where you can experience more control.
The first session is really a space for us to get to know each other, for me to understand what it is your looking for in therapy, what brought you here and for you to get a sense if this is a good working relationship for you. In my opinion the therapeutic relationship is one of the most essential pieces to doing the work. I want you to leave the first session with a vision of how to get from point A to point B and with a sense that I am the right person to join in that journey with.
I am an active participant in therapy, I join with, I reflect, I ask questions with curiosity that hopefully challenge you in compassionate ways.
Starting therapy can bring a mix of emotions. I want to create a space that makes you feel safe, seen and comfortable to begin to explore the reasons that led you to therapy. To start to learn ways to understand and manage the symptoms of depression, anxiety and/or trauma you may be experiencing and to set goals of what you want your life to look like in the future. I want to foster a sense of curiosity and compassion to help you on your healing journey.
I use CBT to help you identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression or low self-esteem. Together we will look at the connection between your thoughts, emotions and behaviors and build practical tools to help you feel more in control, confident and capable in your daily life.
My approach is grounded in psychodynamic therapy, which means we will explore how your past experiences-especially your early relationships-may be influence your present thoughts, emotions and patterns. Together we will bring unconscious beliefs and emotions into awareness, helping you develop deeper insight and creating meaningful, lasting change.
I offer a trauma-informed space where your story is hear at your own pace. Using an integrative approach that draws from somatic awareness, mindfulness, and attachment based therapist, I help clients gently reconnect with their sense of safety, resilience and inner strength. Together we will work to reduce symptoms like anxiety, dissociation, or emotional overwhelm, while building skills for grounding and self-compassion.
There is so much to your whole being, I like to join with clients to tap into innate strengths and abilities to heal and grow.
I like to help people understand their window of tolerance, to start to learn skills to gain more control over shifting your energy to a place that feels safer.

Michelle has been great. I have never participated in therapy before and started to explore it a few months ago. I was discouraged as the first therapist I met with was not very interactive. Then I found Michelle, she has been great since the first time meeting- explaining what to expect in sessions. She is very interactive and engaging, asking clarifying questions and giving good feedback and tips to try in between sessions.
