Welcome, my name is Sophonie Gedeon and I am a Bilingual (Haitian/Creole) Licensed Clinicial Social Worker in the state of Florida. With 11 years of experience working in settings such as crisis units, hospitals, private practice and schools, allow me the opportunity to help you navigate through disturbing feelings and situations. We will work collaboratively within a confidential space where you can speak from a place of transparency to identify presenting issues, and find realistic solutions where I diagnose from a clinical perspective. Obtain clarity, purpose, solution and identity through healing conversations.
An initial conversation will remain at the surface level where I orient clients to the therapeutic process. As we move through the assessment and diagnosis phase, clients will be required to identify their reasons for seeking therapy, expectations, and changes they would like to see. Treatment modalities will also depend on the severity of the presenting problems and the identified issues. Clients can expect me to help walk them through uncomfortable conversations where they will be comforted through the use of a delicate approach. Be prepared to explore repressed memories buried underneath traumas and challenging experiences as we move through the healing process.
My area of expertise is in interpersonal therapy as this helps to find root causes of psychological and emotional turmoil, manifesting itself externally through unhealthy behaviors. I primarily utilize cognitive behavioral therapy to address substance use; addiction is at an all-time high and you can only self-medicate to disconnect from reality and your traumas temporarily. Gain a new perspective while transforming your mind; I will make recommendations for higher levels of care through medication management and or rehab if necessary. Allow me to help you visit dormant spaces within your emotions through deep conversations that can help you confront traumas while processing real-life situations. Grief, interpersonal issues, relationship challenges, and abuse can often cause individuals to externalize that pain; peel back the layers, explore your current belief system and find the root causes of your mental and emotional ailments with safe heart-to-heart dialogue initiated through psychodynamic therapy.
My niche is providing cognitive behavioral therapy to adolescents and adults who suffer from intense symptoms of mental health disorders. Children are provided intervention through play therapy; in most cases surrounding abuse, this has been found to be most effective to allow children to retell traumatic experiences to illustrate their emotional condition.
