About
When life shifts, your body often feels it first. You might experience a "heavy" fatigue, or a nervous system that feels permanently stuck in "fight or flight." It can be difficult to find the best tools to manage life's challenges, but learning how to regulate your mind and body can significantly improve your quality of life. I'm Meghan, a Counselor specializing in Somatic-Informed Therapy. I believe that true resilience isn't just "mind over matter"—it's learning to listen to what your body is telling you. My approach combines traditional clinical insight with somatic (body-based) tools and mind-body techniques. We won't just analyze your stress; we will work to discharge it from your nervous system. Whether you are navigating something new or seeking new coping tools, I provide a grounded space to help you reconnect with yourself.
First session
I really like to use our first session as a get-to-know-you opportunity. This helps me best understand the experience you are bringing into the therapeutic space and how I can tailor my skills to best support you. I like to call our first session "coffee talk." You can expect an honest assessment of whether I would be a good match for your particular needs. I think it is vital for clients to feel seen, validated, and connected in order for therapy to be successful.
Strengths
I've navigated many life challenges and understand how to sit with the difficult stuff. I myself have worked with my anxiety since I was a teen, so I know the value of being able to find a warm and supportive space where I can tell my story without judgment. I am direct, but I am not a pusher. I truly enjoy meeting you where you are and exploring the best pathway based on what you bring to sessions. I let you lead, but I am always right there to give you a little nudge when needed.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
What it is... CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is a way to understand how your brain, your body, and your choices work together. Think of it as the Thought-Feeling-Action Loop: Thoughts: What you tell yourself in your head (e.g., "I'm bad a this.") Feelings: The emotions you feel in your body (e.g., Feeling anxious or frustrated.) Actions: What you choose to do (e.g., Give up) How it helps... If you have a negative thought, it leads to a bad feeling, which leads to an unhelpful action. CBT teaches you to be a mind detective. Instead of just believing every negative thought you have, you learn to pause, look for clues to see if the thought is actually true, and swap it out for a more helpful one.
Mind-body approach
What it is... Think of mind-body therapy like a reset button. By using your breathing or physical movements, you can trick a stressed-out brain into feeling safe, helping you feel calm, focused, and in control of your day. How it helps... Instead of just trying to "think positive," mind-body approaches use physical actions to calm your brain.
Somatic
What it is... Sometimes, when we go through something really scary, stressful, or overwhelming, that extra nervous energy gets "stuck" inside our bodies. Even if we try to talk ourselves out of being scared, our body still feels like it needs to run away or fight. How it helps... Somatic Experiencing helps you finish the story your body wanted to tell when it got scared. By safely releasing that trapped energy, your nervous system can finally realize, "The danger is over, and I am safe now." This helps you feel more relaxed, grounded, and comfortable in your own skin.
Integrative
What it is... Imagine going to a bike shop, and instead of just giving you a standard bike off the shelf, the mechanic builds one exactly for your height, your favorite color, and the specific trails you like to ride. How it helps... "Integrative" means combining different things to make them work better together. Instead of using just one style of therapy, an integrative therapist considers all the best tools available and combines them to fit you perfectly.
