Hello! I am Abbi. I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Indiana. I have spent the majority of my career working with individuals struggling with substance misuse. However, I have worked with individuals from all walks of life, various diagnoses and life circumstances. I hold being a therapist as such a high honor. It is never lost on me how special it is to be able to sit with individuals in their most vulnerable moments and provide support.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first session you can expect me to help you feel comfortable to be able to open up and share what brings you into session. While the first session is for building the basis of our theraptic relationship, I will also be asking questions so I can to truly understand who you are and what brings you into therapy.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring authenticity into the session to help individuals feel more confortable and allow them to also show up as their most authentic selves. I want the client's I serve: to feel safe, heard, and in control of their treatment. I am always happy to greet clients with humor and warmth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Clients I enjoy working with would be motivated to make changes in their lives and ready to take a deeper dive into learning more about themselves. I work well with individuals struggling with substance misuse, anxiety, and self-esteem issues. I will always use a harm reduction approach to make sure the individual is in the lead of their recovery process and does not feel like too many changes are happening all at once.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I utilize various therapy modalities such as ACT, DBT, and MI to be able to meet clients where they are. I also use many more such as person-focused, solution-focused, and trauma informed.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have attended several confrences on DBT making it one of my go-to evidance based practices. DBT truly ebodies meeting the client where they are. The largest goal of DBT is to be able to gain more control over emotions and not think in all-or-nothing terms. DBT is utilizied for a wide range of diagnosis and presenting problems such as, substance abuse, relationship concerns and anxiety. DBT works to directly confront that two conflicting realities can be true at the same time.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is another one of my go-to evidence based practices. I use ACT to allow clients to work toward truly accepcting the realities of their past, present and futures. I also use ACT to help idnividuals deal with negative thoughts, feelings and circumstances. ACT is also utilized to help clients better understand themselves.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is the core of how I assess clients to better understand where they are, how I am able to assist in the change process, and what the goal for treatment is. MI allows clients to be in the driver's seat of their own treatment. Too much change all at once can cause anyone to be overwhelmed. MI allows us to break it down together, step-by-step, at a pace the client is comfortable with.
