I see my mission in helping people to find their inner truth and through it more clarity and stability inside. Although I am certified and have extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy, I do use other techniques in my work if necessary: both gestalt, systemic, schema therapy, mindfulness and psychodynamic approaches. I will gladly share them with you so that you have tools you need to master your way to a more fulfilled life. In general, though, I try to make the counseling process less about a certain technique, but about you. More than anything I believe that positive change in counseling or therapy becomes possible on the basis of an authentic, supportive, trustful therapeutic relationship.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, I will first ask you to tell me a little about your situation as I will try to understand your perspective on it better as well as to get an idea of your life context. In this session, we both should observe how we feel in each other’s presence and whether we are a good fit to work further. If we still have time left we would try to specify what your ultimate goal in therapy could be and to outline the next steps in our work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Due to the combination of CBT and psychodynamic approach, I am able to offer both straightforward tools that could be applied in everyday life and could lead to the elevation of current difficulties as well as to invite you to gently explore the reasons for the current suffering, so that a deeper self-understanding and therefore deeper healing that goes beyond the current symptoms is achieved.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic approach is a very compassionate and gentle way of helping individuals gain a better understanding of themselves, their needs, and often unconscious behavior patterns. Together we will explore the roots of the current difficulties. Once some clarity is reached, it often leads to a freeing sense of relief. From this new perspective, changes become possible. One often feels more stable and less limited in everyday life. This approach is especially valuable for individuals who suffered a childhood trauma and repeatedly feel unsatisfied in their relationships. Due to the deep work that is being done, it is rather a long-term therapy approach.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an approach that can be very especially effective in treating anxiety disorders. It requires high commitment and motivation for a change. A psychological explanation of the current symptoms is followed by the requirement to repeatedly apply the learned material in everyday life. CBT coaches changes by installing new habits, that lead to new traits and through it to a better adjustment in everyday life. CBT can lead to relatively fast results in situations when the roots of the current difficulties lay in relatively recent events and the person has the necessary resources to follow the therapist's instructions.

Schema Therapy

Schema therapy is a modern part of CBT. It allows one to identify and reintegrate personality parts that might stay in conflict with each other and thus sabotage an individual’s life satisfaction. These parts will be explored and new ways of integration will be found.
