Rose Gorlekian

LMFT3 years of experience

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in the treatment of anxiety, trauma, and mood-related concerns in adults. My work focuses on helping clients better understand the patterns that influence their emotional experiences and responses to stress. I use an insight-oriented and trauma-informed approach, integrating EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, and parts work. Through this work, clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional stability, and the ability to respond to challenges in new and more adaptive ways.

First session

The first session focuses on understanding what is bringing you to therapy and the concerns you would like to address. We will discuss your current symptoms, relevant history, and the patterns you may be noticing in your emotional or relational life. I will ask questions to gain a clear picture of what you have been experiencing and what you hope to change. This session also allows us to begin identifying treatment goals and determining whether my approach is a good fit for your needs. Many clients come in feeling unsure where to start, and part of my role is to help organize what may feel overwhelming so we can begin moving toward meaningful change.

Strengths

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to identify and articulate the patterns underlying a client’s emotional and relational difficulties. Many clients come to therapy feeling confused about why certain reactions, anxieties, or relational struggles continue to repeat in their lives. I help clients slow down and understand how these patterns developed and how they continue to operate in the present. I am particularly skilled at helping clients make connections between past experiences, internal coping strategies, and current emotional responses. This insight often allows clients to approach themselves with greater clarity and self-understanding rather than self-criticism. In addition to insight-oriented work, I focus on helping clients build emotional regulation and develop practical ways of responding differently to situations that have historically felt overwhelming. My goal is to support clients in creating meaningful and lasting changes in how they understand themselves and navigate their lives.

Ideal clients

I work best with clients who are experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or mood-related concerns that feel difficult to manage despite being otherwise high functioning in their daily lives. Many of the clients I work with are thoughtful and self-reflective but find themselves caught in patterns such as rumination, self-doubt, emotional reactivity, and difficulty feeling settled internally. Some clients come to therapy because anxiety or stress has become persistent and exhausting. Others are struggling with the lingering effects of past experiences that continue to shape how they think about themselves, regulate emotions, or relate to others. Many feel frustrated that they understand their struggles intellectually but still feel stuck in the same emotional cycles. Clients who tend to benefit most from my approach are open to exploring the deeper origins of their patterns while also developing practical ways to respond differently to stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges. Therapy becomes a space to gain clarity, build emotional stability, and create lasting shifts in how they experience themselves and their lives.

Treatment methods

EMDR

I am trained and certified in EMDR therapy and use it to help clients process unresolved traumatic or distressing experiences that continue to affect their present functioning. In my work, I guide clients through resourcing, nervous system stabilization, and bilateral stimulation to reduce emotional distress and shift negative beliefs connected to past experiences.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I received formal training in Internal Family Systems during my clinical training and have continued integrating this framework extensively in my work with clients. IFS provides a powerful way to understand the different internal parts that influence emotions, behaviors, and relational patterns. In my practice, I help clients identify protective parts, understand the roles those parts developed over time, and build greater self-leadership and internal compassion. This approach is particularly effective for working with trauma, anxiety, self-criticism, and long-standing emotional patterns.

Attachment-based

My work focuses on how early attachment experiences shape current relationship patterns and emotional responses. I help clients explore how their family of origin and early relational experiences influence the way they connect with others today.

Trauma-Informed Care

My work is grounded in a trauma-informed framework that prioritizes safety, trust, and an understanding of how past experiences shape present emotional and relational patterns. I work with clients to recognize how trauma impacts the nervous system, beliefs about self and others, and patterns of coping. I focus on helping clients build emotional regulation skills, increase self-awareness, and process unresolved experiences at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

Psychodynamic

I received training in psychodynamic therapy during my work as an associate clinician and continue to incorporate this perspective into my practice. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on understanding how early life experiences, unconscious patterns, and relational dynamics shape present-day thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I help clients explore recurring patterns, gain insight into the origins of their struggles, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves.
