New to Grow
Hi! My name is Gabriela Calvert but you can just call me Gaby. I’ve been practicing therapy since 2019. I tend to use a more holistic method when it comes to healing. Meaning, I believe in eating healthy, going outside, and treating yourself with kindness before I would even consider recommending you a medication or something. But I’m also very scientific. I often refer back to renowned psychological studies to help you understand yourself and people. Most importantly, I strive for a delicate balance between you leading the way to your healing and me making sure you avoid the potholes.
Our first session is going to be so easy! You won’t be processing anything deep. That comes much later. I will just be asking you some general background questions about yourself, like what you do for a living, what brought you to therapy, your life at home, and your goals for therapy, stuff like that. Our first session is also just a vibe check. Based on how that goes, you will get a sense of whether you want to continue working with me! And I will get a sense of whether this is the right form of treatment for you.
I describe myself as an authentic person. I’m not gonna be the type of therapist who just nods her head and listens to you talk the whole time. I’m gonna ask questions, challenge you emotionally, give you feedback, and tell you stories. I’m very real, and upfront, but I’m also kind and understanding. My major goal is to simply connect with you. After we connect and build trust, healing follows much more easily.
I have been thrown all sorts of curveballs as far as clients go, including narcissists, actively suicidal people, victims of domestic violence, grieving clients, etc. I’m truly not afraid to treat anyone. My ideal client is simply someone who is motivated to change. Someone who is going to attempt to do the work I provide. Someone who is willing to listen to a new perspective. Someone who is open to learning and constructive feedback. I’m a genuine person, so I’m not going to beat around the bush or sugar coat what I see. But I’m also very understanding and compassionate.

Knowledge is power. However, knowledge isn’t a fix all be all solution either. The application of knowledge is what truly facilities healing. I have spent the last 5 years running psychoeducation groups to teach adults how to manage their emotions and heal trauma.
