LCSW, 10 years of experience
I am Dr. Tanisha Robinson, I am a licensed clinical social worker and a wellness coach and I work with patients who have chronic medical/health illnesses with behavior modification to help change the behaviors to live a healthier lifestyle per their health needs. I utilize motivational interviewing and solution-focused therapy to work on those needs. I also work in short term behavioral health for anxiety management, distress around chronic illness management and depression. I have worked in medical social work for over ten years and have done this with patients with cardiovascular conditions, renal disease (kidney disease), smoking cessation, weight management, addressing nutrition and eating habits and how that coincides with your chronic health (physical and mental) and I provide formal diabetes education. I am also able to provide bariatric psych evaluations for surgical clearance and general mental health or substance use evaluations.
We will do a detailed assessment looking at all their chronic physical and mental health needs and understand their family history (both medical and psychiatric), trauma, learning styles, daily life and living skills, substance use history and, any social determinants of health. I will assess any gaps in education (health or psychoeducation) needed and, address that and make recommendations as well for any additional care or support outside of what we will work on together. I also work with your other providers that may be helping to manage your chronic conditions or medications to help with understanding the care you are receiving here and address any needs that they feel you may have as well. We will work as a team, you, me and your other providers.
I do really focus on your care and treatment plan being person-centered. We go over what your mental and physical health needs are and what it is that you want to address and work on and that is what we develop the treatment plan on.
I am best able to serve patients who have chronic medical conditions that need to make lifestyle behavior changes for healthier living and management of their chronic conditions as well as provide health education. I am also best able to serve patients who have anxiety or depression related to their chronic health conditions and need coping skills to help them cope and manage better overall. I provide short-term therapy, health education and, behavior modification.
I do behavior modification and provide tips and skills to help adjust a behavior from the unwanted to the one you would like to form. Specifically in chronic physical health issues and the need to make behavior changes to be healthier and manage the chronic illness.
