Hi there! My name is Jackie and I have experience working as a therapist with people from a variety of backgrounds. I received my graduate degree from the University of Southern California and am currently a clinical supervisor at UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital. As an African American woman, I understand the value of having a space where you can be your authentic self. Healing isn't a linear process and I'm here to help navigate it. I have a passion for working with people of color who find themselves struggling to feel heard, understood, or empathized with while navigating life. I often work with people seeking support with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and interpersonal issues.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I am trained in CBT, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care. I use an eclectic approach in my work with clients. I would describe my style as compassionate, warm, direct, and collaborative. I sometimes assign homework based on the discussions we have in sessions.
My biggest strength is my ability to connect with people from a variety of backgrounds. My favorite part about being a therapist is meeting people from all walks of life and learning from one another through this process.
My focus is people of ages 18-40, but I work with those of all ages. My clients are often struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting, and life transitions.
