Hey hey! My name is Cloricea, or Cloey. I am a Caribbean-American mental health professional and certified nutrition and mental health specialist. In my practice, I lead with humility and curiosity-- I use transparency, honesty, and open ended questions to empower you in making the best decisions for your unique needs, values, and goals. I prioritize creating a safe, compassionate space that works with your pace, while providing gentle "carefrontations" when I recognize a block. Together we will explore coping skills that support you in strengthening your relationship with yourself and world around you.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session will be a chance for us to get to know each other better. We will collaborate to gain a clear view your current strengths, needs, and expectations in therapy. I will also share my professional experience and expectations, so that we can determine if we are a good fit.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I take pride in promoting resilience through holistic interventions because I believe that healing is a natural process. My practice centers on using mindfulness to build awareness of the mind and body connection, strengthening self and community care, and using evidenced based tools like CBT and motivational interviewing to access unconscious blocks.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to identify how your thoughts shape your perspective, and how that perspective impacts your decision making and broader life experience.
Attachment-based
As humans we are wired to attach to others for safety, love, emotion regulation, and overall sense of self. These patterns are learned in our early life but also can be reshaped. We will process the people, places, and things you attach to and they ways they are both helpful and unhelpful in reaching your goals.
Trauma Informed Care
I prioritize safety and a pace that works with your nervous system. We will collaborate and explore patterns that you have adapted to cope, and use mind and body tools to reshape how you experience the world.
Somatic
Our bodies are our first responders-- I can guide you in practical somatic skills to improve your connection to your body so that you can build courage to face your fears and better feel your emotions versus thinking them.
Compassion Focused
To better understand your unique needs, values, goals, I model a compassion focused approach. This includes mindfulness without judgement, understanding without shame, and unconditional acceptance.
