As a queer-identified Black American womxn, I value the uniqueness and diversity of each client, creating a safe and affirming space for BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent individuals. I use Brainspotting, ACT, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients process emotions, heal trauma, and take meaningful steps toward growth.
First session
In our first session together, I will answer any questions you have, explain how therapy works and what to expect, and ask some questions about you to get a good picture of your life and what to focus on in our work together.
Strengths
As someone who has faced the challenge of trying to find where you "fit" in the world, I can often relate to those who feel similarly and are desiring to feel understood. I value making the therapy space one where client's feel they can be their authentic selves comfortably.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are introspective, open-minded, and committed to their growth. The majority of my clients identify as neurodivergent BIPOC, or LGBTQ. I also often work with high-achievers navigating self-concepts and perfectionism. Client concerns often cover learning coping skills, identifying strategies to improve functioning, improving relationships with self/family/friends, etc., and navigating anxiety. I also support clients who need a space to reflect on the impacts of marginalization and systemic oppression.
Treatment methods
Brainspotting
In my practice, I utilize brainspotting with clients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and other conditions. I find brainspotting to be a dynamic, effective and captivating tool for rapid change. Through brainspotting clients have increased ability for change by making insightful connections on what lies at the root of their problems. Brainspotting is a great tool for those who feel stuck or that they've tried everything and want to explore a different approach to change.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Life doesn't have to be perfect to be meaningful! Through ACT I teach you clients how to stop fighting your thoughts and start living your dreams. Through my approach I will take you through activities and exercises to learn how to apply these skills to your everyday life and live a more rewarding life. With my clients we have successfully used ACT to manage and reduce anxiety, depression, chronic pain, stress, and more.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I believe in empowering my clients to identify and build upon their strengths to create positive change in their lives. Through SFBT, I collaborate with clients to explore their goals and develop practical, solution-focused strategies to achieve them. By emphasizing the present and future rather than dwelling on past problems, I help clients envision a clearer path forward and cultivate the resilience and resources necessary to navigate life's challenges. Together, we work towards tangible, sustainable solutions that promote growth, well-being, and overall life satisfaction.
