Hello, I'm Amber. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) accepting in person clients in Sonoma County and virtually from all over California offering individual. I am passionate about the outdoors, animals, music, art, and new adventures and I try to blend this into my therapy as much as possible. In our sessions, we will spend time building a strong therapeutic relationship that will allow us to identify your strengths, your goals, and how to get you there. I provide a compassionate, judgement free space and an integrative approach, assessing what interventions or approaches work best for you and tailoring your treatment to meet your needs and I am able to provide a sliding scale payment to make treatment more accessible as well. I have been working in mental health since 2015, and have been licensed since Spring 2023. I have worked as a Therapist, Clinical Director, and Clinical Case Manager within residential and outpatient settings providing care to adolescents, young adults, veterans, houseless individuals, individuals involved in the legal system, couples, and families. I feel strongly that through building trust and a strong therapeutic relationship, we are able to make progress towards goals and work to heal past trauma or tackle primary obstacles. I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to see themselves grow and change. I especially enjoy working with adolescents and young adults in exploring who they are and what they want in life, as well as individuals experiencing big life changes. My clients are open minded, accepting of challenges, and ready to rewrite their stories.
Let's dive into your motivations for coming to therapy. I am happy to answer any questions about the process and expectations you may have. I will inquire about things that you are already aware work for you and that do not work for you. We will go at your pace and comfortability, and as time passes and we get to know one another better, I will also challenge you when it seems most appropriate. The goal is for us to have a trusting therapeutic relationship that will allow you to feel safe and confident.
Working with diverse populations in various settings, I have been able to meet others with compassion and kindness. You are not "too much." I am passionate about this work and in helping others. I will provide support and tools that will allow you to meet your goals while healing your relationship with yourself and those around you.
I feel that the relationship between therapist and client is essential for the process of growth and healing. Through developing trust and rapport, we are able to focus on your individual needs, explore patterns and themes within your life, and identify individualized interventions to help you meet your goals. I come from a space of holding unconditional positive regard, no judgement, and remain curious about your perceptions and maintain compassion towards your experience.
I have used DBT frequently to support with emotional dysregulation and building distress tolerance. DBT provides us with tools to access when we are in need of grounding and slowing down. I have taught these skills to adolescents over the last three years to support them in learning how to identify, cope, and manage their emotions.
I have had a diverse background of working in different settings with different populations, through my experiences over the course of the last 9 years, I have been able to consistently meet individuals where they currently are and access a plethora of tools to meet their needs and support them in reaching their goals. I utilize DBT, mindfulness, nature, trauma informed, attachment, Internal Family Systems, and somatic work.
I view trauma as the umbrella term that embodies the experiences we have throughout our life that leaves a significant impression on us. I maintain mindfulness in navigating what is brought to session holding compassion and consideration of the ways in which our experiences have shaped our worldview, perceptions, and how we respond to the people and situations around us.
