Bright Shadows, led by Rondeshya Cosby, PMHNP-BC, is dedicated to making high-quality mental health care accessible and compassionate. With expertise in psychiatry and therapy, Rondeshya and her team provide both in-person and virtual services across Virginia and North Carolina, offering support for children, teens, and adults. Bright Shadows focuses on empowering clients through personalized treatment, evidence-based practices, and a commitment to meeting people where they are on their wellness journey.
In our first session together, we’ll take time to get to know you—your story, your concerns, and your goals for care. This visit usually includes a thorough assessment of your mental health, medical history, and current challenges, so we can build a complete picture of your needs. We’ll also talk about what’s been working for you, what hasn’t, and what you hope to achieve. You’ll have the chance to ask questions, share what feels most important, and set the pace for moving forward. By the end of the session, we’ll discuss initial recommendations and outline a plan that feels comfortable and realistic for you. Our goal is to make you feel supported, heard, and confident in the next steps of your care.
What sets my approach apart is a balance of clinical expertise and genuine compassion. I combine evidence-based methods—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and medication management—with a warm, collaborative style that helps clients feel safe, respected, and understood. I specialize in meeting people where they are, helping them uncover their own strengths, and guiding them toward lasting change. Clients often share that they appreciate my ability to listen without judgment, explain complex issues in simple terms, and create practical, personalized strategies that truly work.
At Bright Shadows, we are best positioned to serve individuals and families who are seeking compassionate, practical support for mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, substance use, and life transitions. We welcome clients who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the next step, and who want a safe, judgment-free space to be heard and supported. Whether your goals are building coping skills, improving relationships, finding balance, or developing long-term strategies for wellness, our team is here to walk with you and provide evidence-based care tailored to your needs.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is a structured, goal-oriented type of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It helps people recognize patterns that contribute to emotional distress and teaches practical coping strategies to improve mood, functioning, and overall well-being.
Motivational Interviewing
MI is a collaborative, person-centered counseling style designed to enhance motivation for change. Instead of confronting resistance, it uses empathy, open-ended questions, and reflective listening to help individuals explore their own reasons for change and strengthen commitment to healthier behaviors.
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation involves providing individuals (and sometimes families) with clear, evidence-based information about mental health conditions, treatment options, coping strategies, and available supports. It helps people better understand their experiences, reduces stigma, and empowers them to actively participate in their care.

As soon as she got on the screen, she went right into business mode. As someone with ADHD, I appreciated her getting right to the point. I felt heard with no judgment and she got right to solutions!
