New to Grow
Hi, I'm Fran Canaday, LPC, owner of Renew Therapy for Healing & Resilience. I work with teens and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, grief, trauma, and relationship challenges. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical—I believe therapy should be a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change. I draw from evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, DBT-informed skills, and trauma-informed care to help clients build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and move toward the life they want to live. As a former school-based therapist, I also have extensive experience supporting adolescents and helping families navigate the challenges of the middle and high school years.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so there is no pressure to share everything at once. During our first session, we'll focus on getting to know each other, discussing what brought you to therapy, and identifying what you hope to gain from our work together. I'll ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, and strengths so I can better understand your experiences. We will also review any questions you have about therapy and begin creating goals that feel meaningful and achievable. My goal is for you to leave with a better understanding of the therapeutic process, feeling supported, and with a few practical tools or next steps to begin your journey
Clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and easy to talk to. I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen and understood, so I strive to create a space that is affirming, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. At the same time, I am not afraid to gently challenge unhelpful patterns when it supports your growth. My background as a school-based therapist, behavioral health assessor, and child welfare professional gives me a unique understanding of family systems, life transitions, trauma, and navigating complex situations. I blend empathy with practical skills, helping clients not only process their experiences but also leave sessions with tools they can use in their daily lives. As a Black therapist, I am also passionate about creating culturally responsive spaces where clients can explore their identities and experiences without judgment.
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT as an integrative approach. I believe a lot of our thoughts contribute to distress. In sessions we challenge thoughts.
