Rocio Suao
My name is Rocio Suao. I support adult patients navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and emotional well-being. After serving as a Family Nurse Practitioner for several years, I chose to expand my career into psychiatric mental health after recognizing the growing need for accessible, compassionate care in our communities. My family practice experience helps me see the whole person—physical and emotional well-being together. I offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and secure telehealth care in a warm, respectful, judgment-free space where you can feel heard, respected, and supported.
First session
During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, confidential, and nonjudgmental conversation about their concerns, symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals. I will take time to understand their unique needs, answer questions, and discuss appropriate treatment options. By the end of the session, we will have a personalized plan and clear next steps for moving forward.
Strengths
The strengths I bring to my sessions include compassion, attentive listening, clinical knowledge, and a collaborative approach. I strive to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns, experiences, and goals. I understand that seeking mental health care can feel overwhelming, so I approach each conversation with patience, empathy, and respect. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I look at the whole person—not only a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. I take time to understand each patient’s medical history, emotional well-being, relationships, lifestyle, culture, and personal circumstances. This comprehensive perspective helps me develop individualized treatment plans that reflect each patient’s unique needs and preferences. I also value clear and honest communication. I explain diagnoses, treatment recommendations, medication options, potential benefits, and possible side effects in language that is easy to understand. I encourage patients to ask questions and participate actively in decisions about their care. My goal is for every patient to feel informed, respected, and confident in the treatment process. Another strength I bring is my commitment to evidence-based care. I remain thoughtful and thorough when evaluating symptoms and recommending treatment while recognizing that progress may look different for each person. I monitor treatment carefully, listen to patient feedback, and make adjustments when needed. Above all, I bring genuine dedication to helping patients feel better and improve their quality of life. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is built through trust, consistency, and collaboration. Whether someone is seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, or another mental health concern, I aim to meet them where they are and help them move toward greater stability, resilience, and well-being.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an adult experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, mood changes, or difficulty managing everyday stress. They may feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or unsure of where to begin, but they are open to receiving support and making positive changes. I work best with clients who value honest communication and a collaborative approach to care. Together, we will identify their concerns, explore treatment options, and create a personalized plan focused on improving emotional stability, daily functioning, and overall quality of life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier perspectives, and practice effective coping strategies. These practical skills can help clients manage anxiety, depression, stress, and other concerns while making meaningful changes in their daily lives.
