New to Grow
I'm Lisa, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Texas and Oklahoma who genuinely loves this work. I've spent years in private practice and inpatient psychiatric care, which means I've sat with people in some of their hardest, most overwhelming moments. That experience shaped me into a therapist who doesn't flinch, doesn't judge, and isn't afraid to be real with you.
The first session is really just us getting to know each other. I'll want to know what's bringing you in, what's been hard, and what you actually want your life to look like on the other side of this. I ask direct questions and I listen closely, but I'm not going to make you rehash every painful detail in session one. We'll go at a pace that makes sense, get a feel for each other, and start building a picture of what we're working toward together.
I bring warmth, directness, and a genuine ability to meet people where they are without judgment. My background spans inpatient psychiatric care and private practice, so I've worked with people in crisis and people doing the quieter, longer work of figuring themselves out. I use evidence-based approaches CBT, DBT, ACT, and Gottman but I don't let the framework get in the way of the person. I also bring humor, because therapy doesn't have to feel heavy every single minute to be meaningful.
My clients are usually the ones who keep showing up for everyone else but haven't figured out how to show up for themselves. They're carrying anxiety, trauma, depression, or relationship stress and most of them have been pushing through it alone longer than they should have. They're self-aware enough to know something isn't working, but stuck enough that they haven't been able to change it on their own. I work with individuals and couples who want honest, direct therapy that actually feels like a conversation, not a clinical exercise. I have a genuine commitment to serving veterans and their families, the LGBTQ+ community, and Hispanic clients, and that shapes how I show up in every session. If you're done just surviving and ready to do something different, I'd love to work with you.
Other specialties
I identify as
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma-informed care means I don't just treat symptoms. I consider how your past experiences shape how you feel, think, and move through the world today. Sessions are built around safety, trust, and your pace.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT gives you concrete skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and tolerating hard moments without making things worse. It's structured, practical, and built for when life feels overwhelming.
Gottman method
Gottman Method helps couples understand how they're getting stuck and why. We work on communication, repair, and rebuilding trust in a way that's grounded in decades of research on what makes relationships last.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I weave mindfulness into sessions to help you slow down, tune in, and respond to your life more intentionally. It's a skill, and like any skill, it gets easier with practice.
