About me

Hello! I'm Tahlia Marta Utrera, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, curiosity, and evidence-based care. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes at your own pace.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know one another. I'll ask about what brought you to therapy, your personal history, your current concerns, and what you hope to achieve through treatment. We'll discuss your goals, answer any questions you have about the therapy process, and begin developing a plan that feels tailored to your needs. My priority is to help you feel comfortable, respected, and supported from the very beginning.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe therapy should be collaborative, personalized, and rooted in genuine connection. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor treatment to each client's unique experiences, strengths, and goals. I integrate evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care, while creating a warm and culturally sensitive environment. I strive to help clients build practical coping skills, gain insight into patterns that may be holding them back, and develop the confidence to create lasting, meaningful change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are adolescents and adults who are ready to better understand themselves, navigate life's challenges, and improve their overall emotional well-being. They may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, low self-esteem, or feeling overwhelmed by daily responsibilities. Whether you're new to therapy or returning after time away, I welcome individuals who are open to self-exploration and interested in building healthier coping skills, strengthening resilience, and creating meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to meet you where you are and support you at a pace that feels comfortable and empowering.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Here's a concise, client-friendly description for your Grow Therapy profile: I use a person-centered approach by creating a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel genuinely heard and valued. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you explore your thoughts and emotions, build on your strengths, and discover solutions that align with your values and goals. Together, we'll work collaboratively at a pace that feels comfortable while fostering self-awareness, confidence, and lasting personal growth.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge beliefs that may be contributing to distress, and develop healthier ways of coping with life's challenges. CBT is a practical, goal-oriented approach that helps clients build skills to manage anxiety, depression, stress, and other concerns while creating lasting changes both in and outside of therapy.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions rather than struggling to avoid or eliminate them. Through mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based strategies, I support clients in increasing psychological flexibility, staying present, and taking meaningful actions that align with what matters most to them. ACT helps clients build resilience, navigate life's challenges with greater confidence, and create a more fulfilling and purposeful life.
