Anna Silberkraus
Welcome to counseling. With me you will experience a safe and judgment-free experience in learning how to manage life no matter what your life experiences are. I believe that once you accept that you are the only person who has walked in your shoes, you will start to become more accepting of who you are. I have experience in several fields, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, marriage and family therapy, and autism spectrum disorders. I have several professionals who recommend me regularly for grief therapy and problems associated with chronic illness. Also, working with individuals with alcohol/substance abuse issues is a specialty of mine. I have learned that communication is often the root of many problems and teach and model communication techniques that will allow you to feel more empowered and heard. This includes active listening techniques which most clients find very helpful.
First session
When we work together, I hope that you will feel heard and accepted unconditionally. I will share tools with you to help you feel more empowered and more comfortable in your activities of daily living. I will help you understand the importance of good communication skills including active listening. I am understanding, yet straightforward. I strongly believe that the counseling session is a two-way commitment where we both need to be active participants.
Strengths
My greatest strength is building a trusting therapeutic relationship. This is accomplished by helping my clients feel safe. I establish this by creating an open and trusting environment that is client focused. One way I know this is true, is by the number of clients who come back to me when something new happens in their life that needs professional assistance.
