Kayla Sims
I have been a therapist for 18 years. My areas of expertise include working with neurodivergent individuals, navigating through life transitions, and managing daily stress and overwhelm. I'm very laid-back and casual. Whatever you're bringing to me will be met with compassion and non-judgment. I've also been told I'm very direct and honest.
My areas of expertise include working with neurodivergent individuals, navigating through life transitions, and managing daily stress and overwhelm.
Therapy can also be about learning some hard truths about yourself. I prioritize honesty between us, so I'm open to feedback if we're going too fast or getting too intense.
First session
Our first session will be fun as we get to know each other and share our struggles and commonalities. You will tell me what brings you to therapy, your goals, and what made you decide to finally seek help. I would also love it if you would tell me what scares you about this process so that I can help to allay those fears.
Strengths
I've worked with neurodivergent clients, young adults, struggling adults, parents, middle aged people in transition, and people of all ages just trying to figure it out. I've also worked with people struggling to figure out who they are and how to be comfortable with that. Your goals should be yours to set: they should be realistic and attainable, but healthy and sustainable too. Its my job to help make sure those criteria are in place so we can help you meet your goals together! Then we set mini-goals every week to help you meet the big goals long-term.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is committed to change, but also realistic about it. They know change will not happen overnight, but incrementally. As long as they're getting 1% better every day, that's progress. My ideal client is also one who is open to hearing some hard truths about themselves. Therapy will be hard. Just be ready to work for the best possible version of you!
