Hello! I'm going to KISS this part. Keep It Short Simple. My name is Christine. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has worked with children in the school districts, community college students, and adolescent and adult patients in a psychiatric hospital experiencing homicidal/suicidal/psychotic crisis. I have experience with perinatal/postpartum depression and anxiety for both moms and dads.

First session

A casual conversation of what your symptoms are, why you are seeking help, what you would like to achieve, review of informed consent, and an assessment to gather pertinent background information for treatment should you choose to continue with me. Of course you are welcome to interview me and I will be happy to answer appropriate questions pertaining to my training, skills, and therapeutic approach.

Strengths

My approach is client-centered, strength based, and solution focused. I strive to create a warm, welcoming, safe space where you can unpack life’s stress with someone who is non-judgmental, accepting, honest, and empathetic so you feel heard and seen. You matter. I would be honored to collaborate with you to listen with compassion, guide you in identifying and understanding your behavior and thought patterns, provide psychoeducation, build coping skills, and help you prioritize yourself while creating meaningful and positive change. Because you deserve it.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is one who is struggling with work/life burnout/stress, Anxiety, Depression, postpartum depression, navigating major life transitions (moving away to college/becoming independent, getting married, new parents, parenting, sandwich generation - caring for their parents and their own children simultaneously, empty nesters, aging gracefully) struggling with interpersonal relationships, and/or struggling with intrapersonal self. They are willing to put in the work to open up and explore who they are, their past, what has shaped them, and the lens through which they see the world. Not only can they identify their struggles, but are humble enough to realize their flaws/faults and want to change for the better with the help of a therapist. Their goal is to find happiness and peace.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Much of what we think or how we view the world is based on our past experiences and core values. It may not always be true or factual because our emotions and trauma frame (heavily influence) how we experience situations. That's where our negative thinking and attitude can come from. I use CBT to help you reframe how you think, view the world, and experience situations so that it is more positive and less stressful/painful.

Narrative

You are in charge of your life story. Forgetting that or allowing trauma/anxiety to consume you takes away your sense of control & power in telling your story as a resilient, strong, worthy, loveable character/person and allows everything else (negative people or experiences) to dictate your story. I use narrative therapy to support and guide you in re-telling your story the way YOU want it told, where you shine as a character with all your positive qualities highlighted, and the message you want to send into the universe. Your story isn't over. It's just beginning- tell it the way you want it to be told.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-directed, short-term form of psychotherapy (3-6 months) that focuses on building solutions for the future rather than analyzing problems from the past. I use Solution Focused Brief treatment in practice with everyone, especially those who are goal-oriented and want to dive straight into finding solutions to their problems.

Strength-Based

I use a strength-based approach that focuses on your internal strengths, resilience, and personal resourcefulness rather than on your weaknesses, deficits, or diagnoses.
