I am an experienced LCSW with whose been working with clients for 28 years. This experience has led me to meet and work with thousands of clients throughout the country and world to expand my understanding of the complexities and struggles which are part of the growth process. I've had multiple roles throughout my career which has given me great insight into the treatment process. I've served as a clinician, clinical director, consultant, program owner, and CEO. I've had a great deal of experience working with addiction, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and dual-diagnosis issues. I have worked with a variety of clients ranging from ages 7 to 89, but currently am only working with adults. I am independently licensed in 3 different states as a Marriage and Family Therapist and independently licensed in 2 states as an Addiction Counselor. Although the appointment planner may allow it, please do not schedule appointments more than 2 weeks out. My later times are limited and I would like all my clients to have a chance to one of these slots, plus it cuts back on no-shows since we do not know if we will be able to make an appointment that far in advance. Micheal Franklin is a therapist that came from a blue collar family as each of his family members worked in Textile, Battery plants, and furniture factories. Micheal wanted to go a different path and be the first member of the Franklin' family to have a college degree. Micheal graduated from Western Piedmont Community College in Drug and Alcohol Technology and with an Associates in Arts in 1996 and went onto Gardner Webb University to obtain his Bachelors in Science in Human Services. Micheal realized the job market at the time wouldn't pay enough for him to make his own way in the world so he joined the Marines in 1998. While in the Marine Corps Micheal became married and had a baby boy and needed to increase his income to provide for his family so he sought out part time employment to work with troubled adolescents as well as to provide therapy to teens dealing with addiction related issues. Micheal left the Marines in 2003 and worked with adolescents in a group home for a few years and then became a Prevention Supervisor for adolescent substance use treatment as well as the lead treatment therapist for a Men's IOP Treatment Group at the Cognitive Connection in Hickory, NC. Micheal has taught parenting classes and has worked with Child Protective Services as well. Micheal went to the University of West Florida for his Masters degree in Social Work and worked in Community Mental Health while obtaining his hours for licensure. Micheal also worked in a drug court program for two years as well. Micheal has been licensed since 2014 and has worked with clients dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, personality disorders, and life's transitions.
