I have a background in government, non-profit, school, hospital, and clinical settings, performing child welfare investigations, school counseling, case management services, community outreach, and community referrals. With these experiences, I have honed my skills as a clinician. I draw my approach from the modalities of Cognitive-Behavioral and Acceptance and Commitment therapies.
First session
In our first session together, we'll start with introductions, reviewing practice policies and limits of confidentiality, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing, whether it be long-term or acute. This will help us create a personalized treatment plan to work through in follow-up sessions. I believe specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) treatment goals are crucial in creating sustainable change and creating a life you love.
Strengths
Having worked in many different capacities in the mental health field, I've honed my skills as a therapist and created a tried-and-true playbook for helping you identify the root cause of your challenges and create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.
Ideal clients
I work best with clients who are open to growth and change, accepting that it often comes with discomfort. I aim to walk alongside my clients as they work through accepting past hurts, addressing mental blocks, exploring forgiveness and accountability, as well as acknowledging their own role in suffering, while also moving forward and creating a reality they have dreamt of.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is a traditional, evidence-based approach to thought and behavior change. I use this methodology to assist my clients in becoming aware of irrational or negative thinking so they can see situations clearly, process them, and respond to them in healthy ways.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I utilize the principles of Acceptance and Commitment therapy to encourage my clients to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them or feeling guilty about them. ACT techniques emphasize acceptance rather than avoidance.
