LCSW, 5 years of experience
New to Grow
Hello, I'm Amanda Brown. As an African American broad-minded Christian female therapist whos primary focus is WOMENs mental health, I bring a unique blend of cultural sensitivity, spiritual insight, and clinical expertise to my practice. With a heart that loves God and a deep passion for helping others, I've dedicated my career to supporting individuals facing a myriad of mental health challenges. I hold an MSW and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), with over four years of clinical experience and fifteen years of serving people in the church. My specialties include working with PTSD, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, and various other mental health issues. I firmly believe in meeting clients where they are, guiding them gently through their healing journey at their own pace. My approach is characterized by patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to understand each individual's unique experiences and needs. I believe in 'not going too far too soon,' allowing clients the space and time they need to process and heal. Outside of my practice, I find joy in serving my community, spreading love and positivity wherever I go. I understand the importance of integrating faith, spirituality, and mental health in fostering holistic well-being. If you're searching for a therapist who will walk alongside you with empathy, understanding, and unwavering support, look no further. With me, you'll find a trusted ally and a safe space to explore life's complexities, discover inner strength, and embrace hope for the future.
In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know you and what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask about your goals, current concerns, and any background that feels important, and we’ll talk about how I work so you know what to expect. It’s a relaxed, conversational visit—there’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with. By the end, we’ll decide together on next steps and begin shaping a plan that fits your needs.
My greatest strengths is being an engaged listener, non-judgmental and compassionate.
My practice primary focuses on women's mental health and recovery. From sixteen-year-olds to eighty-year-olds, I've worked with clients across diverse age groups, backgrounds, and faith traditions. Whether you are seeking guidance, support, or simply a compassionate listener to help navigate life's challenges, I am here for you.
I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients notice the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns, explore the beliefs that fuel them, and practice practical skills—like reframing thoughts and using coping strategies—to create lasting change. My approach is collaborative and supportive, so you set the pace while gaining tools to reduce distress and build healthier habits in everyday life.
I use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help clients work through the lingering effects of trauma, especially PTSD. CPT focuses on how traumatic experiences can shape beliefs about safety, trust, and self-worth. Together, we gently examine those “stuck points,” identify unhelpful thoughts, and develop balanced perspectives that reduce distress and support healing. Sessions are structured and collaborative, giving you practical tools to reclaim a sense of control and move forward with confidence
