Julie Davisson
I am a licensed psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, but also saw patients as a family nurse practitioner in private practice for several years. My background helps me to understand the whole person. My main role is to prescribe psychiatric medications and to do so safely. Starting a psychiatric medication, or changing to a new one can be daunting, but hopefully I can demystify much of that process and enable you to feel safe and fully informed about what to expect. If you feel you aren't ready, that's ok too. I meet you where you are. After you schedule with GROW, I will schedule a brief consultation with you to ensure I can meet your needs.
First session
I will ask questions about your symptoms as well as your stressors. After the first session, we will arrive at a basic plan and working diagnosis. We will then schedule intermittent follow up visits until we arrive at a remission of symptoms. My goal is to have you into remission of symptoms in as short a time as possible. After that, I follow you periodically and we continue to assess your mood and how medications are working for you. My goal is to get you well and discharge you -- not keep you in treatment any longer than is needed. I want you well and also to teach you how to maintain that wellness!
Strengths
My biggest strength is my ability to listen and "tune in" to a patient. I hone in quickly by focusing on a short list of symptoms. I keep it simple, and we go slowly, no more than one medication change at at a time. It may seem slow at first, but surprisingly, we arrive at where we need to go more quickly using this approach. My goal is to eliminate unecessary medications that aren't helping you as well. I treat adults, 18 years and up.
