Laura Wagar
Hi, I’m Laura Wagar, LPC, CPCS. I believe therapy should be a place where you can slow down, breathe, and feel truly seen and heard. My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative, creating a safe space to explore what you’re experiencing, gain clarity, and move toward meaningful change. With 14 years of experience, I feel confident in working with a wide range of diagnoses and concerns, utilizing a groundwork of CBT while integrating other modalities that fit your journey such as IFS, DBT, and emotion focused strategies. We will work collaboratively to create a plan that guides you through your healing journey.
First session
Your first session is a chance to slow down and begin telling your story in a space where you don’t have to have the right words or have everything figured out. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping will be different, and what you need from our work together. Most importantly, you’ll have an opportunity to get a feel for me and for our therapeutic relationship, because feeling comfortable and understood is an important part of effective therapy.
Strengths
I bring warmth, compassion, genuine presence, and a nonjudgmental approach to my sessions. I want my clients to feel comfortable being their authentic selves while also feeling gently challenged when growth requires it. I’m a good listener, naturally curious, and focused on creating a therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are people who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready for something to change. You may be navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, or a season where you’re questioning what comes next. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy—just a willingness to pause, be curious, and take the next step. I especially value working with clients who want to better understand themselves and create meaningful, lasting change.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy is integrated into talk therapy easily and seamlessly. We will look at your thought life and how it impacts how you see the world, your beliefs, your situations, and your relationships. From there, we will work together to see what thoughts are helpful and which are no longer serving you, working towards replacing those which no longer serve you with more beneficial and realistic thoughts.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT works beautifully with CBT methods, integrating a more emotion focused approach. Utilizing DBT in my sessions allows you to get more familiar and comfortable with your emotional states while finding balance between emotions and logical thought. We will integrate emotion regulation, mindfulness, and distress tolerance skills throughout your healing journey and give space for your emotional experience.
