I have a commitment to supporting individuals through diverse challenges. My therapeutic approach, rooted in trauma-informed and person-centered principles, demonstrates an understanding and empathy for individuals navigating their healing journeys. As a Hispanic and first-generation college graduate, my personal connection to cultural challenges and generational trauma adds a unique dimension to my practice. I have a passion for those navigating paths away from cultural demands and strive to help others in their own battles. I have pride in meeting individuals where they are in their healing journey, collaborating on treatment goals, and creating a safe space for self-discovery and personal growth. I believe in the power of a supportive and empowering therapeutic relationship. More information at https://www.higherpeakstucson.com/
First thing we do together is paint the picture of therapy. I let you know a little about me as a therapist, and then we identify the challenges you have been having. I do guide you through questions to get a whole picture of what your experiences have been and we collaborate on treatment goals. You get to ask any questions you have.
I am a balance of therapeutic empathy and personal accountability for the goals you set for yourself. I can be straight forward when needed and will absolutely meet your where you are at in your journey.
Your anxiety is keeping you up at night. That thing that happened years ago is still coming up. Often when you least expect it. Sometimes the emotions feel overwhelming and out of control. The burnout doesn't help. You're busy, too- work, family, LIFE. I am here to support you, hold space for you and help you build those skills needed to cope and process your experiences. Let's make sense of what is happening and find ways to move forward with intention. As a former director, I also work well with other therapists looking to work on themselves or wanting support in their personal lives.
CBT is a modality I use to help you understand why we respond the way we do to things in our lives and the connection our behavior has to our experiences.
I have been EMDR trained for 4 years. I use EMDR to help process events that we often feel is "stuck" and help you gain tools to address those emotions that can be overwhelming.
I am a big believer in our mind-body connection. I used this approach to help you gain skills to stay present, learn more about yourself and stay safe.
Your best future is one you build yourself. I use motivational interviewing to help clarify what goals and next steps you want to shape and improve on.
I have extensive trauma training: from individuals, first responders, those in the perinatal stage and those who experience generational trauma. Trauma informed care ensures I am walking through your experiences with you, meeting you where you are at and taking into consideration how that all effects you.
