Alicia Harris
I am Dr. Alicia P. Harris and I have been a LPC and LAC for over 10 years. My areas of specialty is depression, anxiety, and trauma. I use interventions adapted from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other theories that are applicable to my clients needs and goals during treatment.

First session
In our first session, I like to allow clients to get to know me as a professional. They will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding my training and express what they hope to gain from our time together. I tell clients that we may not jump right into their reason for attending during the first session because I want them to feel comfortable with me. They have a right to try-on this collaboration before committing.
Strengths
My life's journey has been one that has required perseverance, determination and the power to pursue emotional well-being. I have had family members that experienced Substance Use Disorder among other behavioral health issues which has given me a greater sense of compassion for helping others.
Ideal clients
My ideal client would be a woman experiencing hair loss (alopecia) and this diagnosis has triggered emotional dysregulation. Because of this she finds it difficult to show up in social settings, maintain intimate relationships and to see herself in a positive manner. A diagnosis such as this can impact every area of her life (emotional, mental, physical and spiritual). With that, there can be issues such as intimate partner violence that can stem of a lack of self-worth.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Helping individuals identify the pattern between their thoughts and behaviors in correlation to outcomes is where we begin. This allows the client to take the journey of determining what their expectations are and what is a healthy route to take in order to achieve them.
