Hey! I'm Talia Auslin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Atlanta, Georgia. A little bit more about me; I am a School Counselor at a K-12 school and have over 9 years of experience working in the mental health field. In times when you might be feeling alone, stuck, or in a negative headspace, it’s so important to have a safe space to be able to share your thoughts and feelings - especially with a professional who is willing to help, support, and validate your current reality. If that is what you’re looking for, then I am your person. When working with you, my goal is to meet your individual needs by using a non-judgmental, person-centered, multicultural, and holistic approach. I primarily use evidence-based techniques including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Counseling, and Mindfulness. In addition to my counseling profession and approaches, I am also very passionate about social justice and LGBTQAI+ rights, and I identify within the community. I consider myself to be a very open-minded, progressive, supportive, and empathetic individual who wants to genuinely understand you. Through our collaborative partnership, I’m here to help you each step of the way to becoming you again, or re-discovering who you want to be in this world. It’s an ongoing journey for all of us, but through the right support, the process is worth it.
In my client interactions, whether it's a first session or an ongoing relationship, I aim to create a safe and supportive space where they can freely express their thoughts and feelings. Through active listening, empathy, and fostering emotional safety for them to be raw and real, I assist my clients in exploring their past, patterns, and potential to help them become the best versions of themselves. Witnessing the progress of my clients truly fills me with immense gratitude and reinforces my passion for assisting others in their deep exploration of themselves. I know that change can be challenging, self-acceptance can seem daunting, and positive transformations can at times feel impossible - however, with my dedication and guidance, we can get there together.
As for my therapeutic methods, I strongly believe in a person-centered approach, where you are the expert of your own life, and I am here to support and guide you on your journey. I value and respect individuality, cultural background, and personal beliefs, creating an inclusive and culturally sensitive therapeutic environment. I draw upon evidence-based techniques that mainly include the following: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which helps identify and modify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which provides skills to manage intense emotions and improve relationships, Solution-focused counseling which focuses on building upon strengths and resources, and Mindfulness practices to cultivate self-awareness and promote overall well-being.
I believe my biggest strength is helping clients recognize that seeking therapy isn't for people who can't help themselves, it's for those who want to help themselves. It's for people who are willing to be vulnerable enough to restore their self-love and no longer fall victim to their internal wounds, negative self-talk, or current hardships around them, and to me, that is an incredible strength. Specifically, working with LGBTQAI+ individuals is a niche of mine, as I can relate to many of their experiences and offer guidance around gender identity, expression, sexuality, sexual orientation, exploration, relationships, trauma, and more. However, any open-minded individual out there who feels intense emotions, anxious, depressed, or wants to change their way of thinking - I'm your person!
