I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 8 years of experience. I say Social Work chose me because I went to college thinking I wanted to be a psychologist, however I once I attended the School of Social Work orientation I knew Social work is the field I was meant to pursue. I have been to therapy myself and I know the positive, meaningful, and lasting change it can have. I want to provide that sense of peace, clarity, and happiness in others.
In our first session, we will discuss what you wrote on the intake form and your therapy goals and expectations. I am interested in knowing who you are and your interests or passions.
I enjoy using several different methods including CBT, person-centered, strengths-based approach, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and play therapy. I use a variety of different methods because one method does not fit everyone. I enjoy drawing out diagrams and examples in session to have a visual of what we are working on. I like to bring in your interests or hobbies to therapy as well!
I am neurodivergent myself, and I can relate to trying to fit yourself into a mold that is just not meant for you. Being a woman of color and growing up with an undocumented parent, I've had my share of adversities. I'm proud of being able to take those adversities and turn them into positive tools such as empathy, understanding, and compassion for my patients who are going through hardships themselves. I am always looking to learn to improve myself for you.
