About me

Hi, I'm Nikkia Gattuso, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner passionate about helping adults and older adults improve their mental health and overall quality of life. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care that combines medication management with supportive therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to help clients build practical coping skills and achieve lasting change. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, respected, and involved in their treatment. My goal is to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where we can work together to develop a personalized treatment plan that supports your goals and helps you feel your best.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a treatment plan that fits your needs. We'll talk about what brought you to treatment, your current symptoms, your medical and mental health history, any previous treatment experiences, and the goals you hope to achieve. I'll ask questions to better understand the full picture, but there is no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with. My approach is warm, collaborative, and judgment-free. If medication is appropriate, we'll discuss your options, including the potential benefits and risks, and decide together on the best next steps. We'll also discuss practical coping strategies and lifestyle changes that can support your mental health between visits. By the end of the session, you'll have a clear understanding of your diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and what to expect moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Mental health care works best when you feel genuinely known—not rushed, judged, or reduced to a diagnosis. I take time to understand the whole person, including your relationships, daily routines, physical health, strengths, and the challenges that brought you to treatment. Those details matter because they help us create a plan that is realistic, personalized, and sustainable. My style is thoughtful, practical, and collaborative. I believe you should leave each appointment with a better understanding of what's contributing to your symptoms and a clear plan for moving forward. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach or simply writing a prescription and sending you on your way. Instead, I partner with you to find solutions that fit your life, monitor your progress closely, and adjust treatment as your needs evolve. My goal is for you to feel heard, empowered, and confident that you have someone in your corner who is invested in your long-term success.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

In my practice, I work with individuals seeking support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma, stress, insomnia, and life transitions. Together, we'll focus on improving your mental health while building sustainable habits that support your overall well-being and quality of life. To me it is important to focus on the person as a whole and not just a diagnosis.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my psychiatry practice, I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as part of a collaborative approach that complements medication management rather than replaces it. During sessions, I help patients recognize how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another and how these patterns can contribute to symptoms such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, and stress.
