I believe in the resilience of people and the possibility of lasting change. If feelings of overwhelm, stress, or recurring patterns are impacting your life, support is available. Therapy can be a meaningful step toward healing for trauma, anxiety and depression. In a safe, person-centered environment, you will be guided with compassion and respect as you explore your unique path to growth. This process is about your empowerment and strength. Together, evidence-based strategies will be tailored to your needs, helping you move toward greater authenticity and well-being. When you're ready, reaching out can be the first step to change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session my hope is to help you feel comfortable. Generally we will go over assessments, determine the concern, talk about your goals and allow you to ask any questions. Generally a first session is an "intake" process but also an opportunity to establish rapport and for you to decide if you feel I'm a good fit for your needs. I look forward to meeting you!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I've had the opportunity to work with many populations and settings affording me a wide range of experiences as both a supervised professional and licensed. I've worked in inpatient settings, partial program , school settings. I've worked with mandated clients and incarcerated clients in prison systems. I've worked with veterans, and professionals. I've worked with all age groups. I also have worked in an outpatient setting. Now, in private practice. My approach to therapy is that my client's are treated with the utmost respect. I value your journey, respect your autonomy. I strongly believe that you hold the strength and resilience to overcome challenges. I'm here to support and encourage you on your path to wellness.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I don't have an "Ideal" client I meet people where they are at--but I do work well with those who are committed to showing up and working collaboratively on their concerns. It helps if you're technically savvy as we're working virtually. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional II, Certified in Choice Theory/Reality Therapy, have completed Anger Management training and virtual (distance) therapy trained. I've taken numerous additional hours in treatment of narcissistic abuse survivors (soon certified).

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Rogerian methods help client and therapist to connect and build rapport. This therapist believes that the therapeutic relationship should be one of respect, and unconditional positive regard. The warmth of the relationship is widely known to be one of the most important factors to build a nurturing professional relationship where a client can thrive.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I appreciate and value CBT for clients to learn how to modify their thinking as it can affect how they are feeling. Learning how our thinking impacts feelings and behavior is an invaluable resource! CBT is widely known as a very effective and evidenced based practice. The skills I teach using this modality are an important part of mental health wellness.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I utilize DBT often for those that are in need of support with emotional regulation, communication/interpersonal skills, and learning to tolerate distress. Life can be difficult! DBT teaches the skills to strengthen us to handle it as it comes.

EMDR

EMDR is a highly effective treatment for trauma. Even the resourcing is beneficial to reduce stress, improve self esteem, provide a sense of comfort. Reprocessing grants the ability to work through traumatic memories, challenge negative cognitions and learn more effective beliefs about themselves after traumatic experiences. I'm trained in using EMDR and believe it's a highly effective tool to help manage symptoms of trauma. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional II, I've taken additional studies to learn methods to support the healing process of trauma.

Experiential Therapy

There are some methods which I might use to help clients understand the importance of mindfulness, like deep breathing to help slow down their thinking. Experiential methods are a resource I often use. Music and art at times are ways to process through some struggles when language can fail us. Sometimes clients have no words to express some things, it is good to have more tools to utilize which provide catharsis, as there is no one size fits all in therapeutic work.
