Emeka Durunna
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care across the lifespan. With experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, I bring a holistic and evidence-based approach to mental health treatment.
My clinical background also includes working in a step-down unit on a medical-surgical floor, where I strengthened my ability to manage complex comorbidities and provide seamless care during critical transitions.
My clinical background also includes working in a step-down unit on a medical-surgical floor, where I strengthened my ability to manage complex comorbidities and provide seamless care during critical transitions. I combine clinical expertise with empathy, meeting patients where they are and empowering them toward stability, resilience, and lasting wellness.
First session
Clients can expect a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where they feel safe sharing their concerns, experiences, and goals. During the first session, I conduct a comprehensive assessment that explores mental health history, medical background, current symptoms, lifestyle factors, and overall functioning to gain a full understanding of their needs. Together, we will begin developing a personalized, collaborative treatment plan and discuss next steps to support their path toward stability and wellness.
Strengths
What stands out most about my therapeutic approach is how I integrate evidence-based care with genuine human connection. I don’t just focus on symptoms—I work to understand the whole person, including their background, stressors, strengths, and goals. Method-wise, I use a combination of approaches such as cognitive behavioral techniques, supportive therapy, and when appropriate, medication management. I tailor each plan rather than using a one-size-fits-all model, which helps ensure care is both effective and meaningful for the patient. In terms of results, this approach often leads to stronger patient engagement, improved adherence to treatment, and more sustainable outcomes. Patients tend to feel empowered, not just treated, which supports long-term stability and relapse prevention.
Treatment methods
Integrative
My approach to providing care is patient-centered, collaborative, and evidence-based, ensuring each individual feels heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment plan. I integrate a holistic perspective that considers biological, psychological, and social factors while tailoring interventions to each patient’s unique needs across the lifespan. I prioritize building therapeutic trust, promoting resilience, and delivering compassionate care that supports both mental and overall health
