As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor, my passion is to provide clients a safe place to focus on their journey toward growth and healing. I have over twenty years of experience counseling clients of all ages who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief/loss and relationship difficulties. I also work with those that are seeking encouragement from someone nonjudgmental as they face life’s stressors and difficult decisions. I offer individual, couples, and family therapy (both in office & through telehealth).
In our first therapy session together, we'll start by going over the intake packet and discuss any questions you may have. We move on to introductions and establish rapport. Once you are comfortable, we can then discuss the specific challenges you're facing. This discussion will help us to collaboratively develop a unique treatment plan that we will work through in follow-up sessions.
Working as a licensed counselor for over 20 years with all ages in a variety of settings, has allowed me the opportunity to develop a wide range of effective therapeutic approaches. I also am comfortable establishing relationships with a diverse clientele and encourage them in a safe environment to work toward healing.
As each of us navigate life, we develop unique thoughts that affect our emotions and the way we view the world. These views affect how we behave and how we interact with those around us. While in therapy, we will strive to identify your own unique negative thought patterns, reframe them into positive ones, and discover the skills necessary to overcome self-defeating behaviors. Self-confidence, overall ife satisfaction and the quality of relationships improve dramatically.
Parent-Child Psychotherapy is an evidence-based treatment for children with disruptive behaviors. This approach works to positively change your parent-child relationship and improve your child's behavior. We identify the strategies that will work best for your family and start practicing these new skills while in therapy. These strategies are practiced at home frequently between counseling sessions. Improved parent-child interaction teachs children positive socialization skills and change children’s problem behaviors. In treatment studies, these strategies have been shown to be effective in changing the behavior of children with Conduct Disorders, Attention - Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. This approach also works with children who have mild problem behaviors.
